I was surprised by how much "give" the jaws seemed to have before they actually snapped, since the vise looks like one that would be made out of cheap gray iron.

I've even seen split slides on the Meriden CT Prentiss vises, which were seemingly built in the Parker factory after the buyout. There's a Prentiss 264 (Meriden model) on eBay right now with a split slide, which is worrying since that's the same vise I have.

Saw that poor Prentiss yesterday and got a kick out of that description. Seller could just be genuinely clueless... At least it's pretty obvious in the pictures.

A whole bunch of the toolboxes have been removed from the site in preparation for the new series 2 versions. It seems like it might be a while longer before all of the series 2 models are available, though. Some people have been able to get good deals on the remaining series 1 stuff in stores...

I really wish they would have put a tall height drawer up top on the new 26". It would probably be enough total storage space for me now that it's 22" deep, but not having the standing-up-sockets drawer up top is probably a deal breaker for me. I know that's kind of what the top box is for, but...

Very nice. I'd love to find a 2C or even a 1C. As amazing as the 3C and beastly 4C look, I feel like a 2C would probably be one of the best all-around general use vises a person could have.

That's less than 19 cents per pound for a 160 pound vise in seemingly good condition aside from a slight handle bend. Looks like maybe a repaired or homemade swivel lock wrench also, but I'd have to say you **** anyway.

Well the big "4" is usually an Asian characteristic, but unlike most Asian vises it has a styling more along the lines of an American machinist vise, even with the nice [ ] shape jaws which I don't think I've ever seen on an Asian vise before. Any idea on the weight?
