New DeWalt DC011 radio/charger for sale

I have a number of these units for sale. Brand new in box. Local pickup near LAX only. Shipping would probably cost as much as the radio by itself. http://www.dewalt.com/tools/cordless-radio-chargers-dc011.aspx It will charge any common pod-style De walt NiCad battery from 7.2 to 18V in 1...

    Welding helmet--did I get a lemon?

Just bought a new welding helmet to start tinkering with a cheap arc welder I got from Lowes. This guy. Not ready to weld quite yet, but this helmet seems broken. When I flip the switch from Grind to Weld it darkens for just a split second, then shuts off. I've faced it at the sun, and it...

3/23/ only, Home Depot arc welder for $69

Just bought this. Now I get to tinker with it a bit while I save up for a MIG. http://www.homedepot.com/p/PRO-SERIES-120-Volt-Arc-Welder-PS07572/203005206#.UU4zhzfeJYE

    54" wide drywall?

Anyone know where to get 54" wide drywall without having to special order it? I'm near the southbay in Los Angeles, if it matters. It would save me a good number of seams on both ceiling and walls. I've checked online and even a couple indie building supply places only carry 48". TIA!

    Craftsman 174 piece mechanic's set at Costco--$80

My local Costco is selling a 174 piece mechanic's set at Costco. Not surprisingly, this seems to be a Costco-only set, and I can't find much online about it. But it looks to be pretty identical to Sears' 154-piece set, with the addition of 20 ignition wrenches. Case label says Made in USA...

    Need help--roll up door

Need help with getting a roll up door. I got referrals for a couple contractors. 1st quote was "I don't want the work" high. The 2nd vendor never got back to me, even after an on-site visit, a message, and a phone conversation (with another promise to get back to me). It was his job to lose...

How do I adapt 1-1/2" flex conduit to 1" thin-wall metal conduit?

Folks, I'm tearing out some soffiting in my kitchen and found there's some metal flex conduit short-cutting the corner between the wall and ceiling that was covered by the soffit. I'll need to cut holes in the top plate for the conduit to get it above the joists, but 1-1/2" is too big a hole...

The "WHY DIDN'T I BUY THIS SOONER?" thread

Thought this would be a fun thread to get the Christmas wish list filled out. Last weekend I was nailing in some Simpson shear plates under the house after replacing a few footings/posts. It was my first time trying to install 16d common nails with a hammer. I got about 2 dozen nails sunk...

    Renewing travertine?

No, not a garage thread--that comes later--but here goes... Moved into a fixer upper recently, and one of the previous owners went crazy with travertine in the house. I'm not digging it all that much, but it's neutral looking and I'd rather not spend the $$$ replacing it anytime soon. Problem...

Did you compromise a lot on the house to get the garage?

The wife and I, after a day of agonizing deliberation, decided to pass on putting an offer in on a house for sale. We've been looking for years, waiting for prices to come down, and very few homes we look at actually make it past the initial sniff. The ones that do are typically beyond what...
