I think you may be right, I see some similar burnishers. The point is incredibly sharp (ask me how I know) and it must be good steel to have held that point without bending or breaking all of these years. (FYI - no markings on it at all)

Picked up little Reed 103 1/2 vise off FBM for $25 this morning. With a quick cleanup it's gonna be a sweet little vise! Hopefully it's a good sign of things to come.

BS is using open APIs, but they do seem to have better information than others. You can imagine that they are "scraping" or using readily available APIS, but they do an excellent job of it. If they can start getting pricing information, they will. I find BS a good resource for clearance...

ehhh... oops.. my attempt at humor. I was saying that immersing myself in alcohol made me not care anymore. I have not actually tried alcohol immersion on old paper items. I do agree with the fact that they can get some musty smells.

I have tried the full immersion in alcohol method and can report that it works fairly well. I could not smell much of anything after my full immersion in alcohol, or maybe I just didn't care anymore. My recollection is a bit hazy.. :beer:
