    New Lumber Prices

Lumber is a commodity. Prices go up, prices go down. Discussing it ad nauseam isn't going to change anything. And NOBODY knows there the pricing is headed. https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/lumber-price-relief.468250/...

Can one guy get a 4 post lift home and build it solo with only basic garage tools? My journey....

Could be a running design change. My XLTs are a few years old. They don't have the tilting ramp stops.

Can one guy get a 4 post lift home and build it solo with only basic garage tools? My journey....

My regular Advantage is adjustable at the ram end, but the XLTs are not. And in my case, it's the XLTs that are close to the limit on a couple of the cables.

Attached garage footprint for new home

Assuming this is a custom home... Add an extra foot or two to the shallow garage space if that water heater is going to be in your way coming around the car. Aren't "safe" rooms typically on the interior of a home? Do you really want an exterior door(s) in your 1st floor MBR? You have...

    PVC drainage questions

You really don't want rabbits around your house. Beside the landscape destruction, they are fantastic hosts for ticks and may perpetuate Lyme disease.

Builders messed up. Put the 2x12 header too low, now wants to put a 2x8 above it to hold trusses. Sounds like a bad idea.

Since we're all just guessing in the dark.... OP mentions "posts" so I think this is a pole structure. Which means all the lumber in question in on edge. It sounds like the builder wants to stack 2X's on top of the already-attached 2X12's that are too low. Seems fine, provided the posts...

    PVC drainage questions

The 12" are much better than the 9s at containing the running water. The next step is landscape rock in the beds which will serve as a backstop for the really heavy rains that still flow over.

Can one guy get a 4 post lift home and build it solo with only basic garage tools? My journey....

If you're not going to be doing the up-down-up-down routine frequently, then just rewire the motor with the proper length cord and leave it unplugged.

    PVC drainage questions

Coupling the downspouts directly to drainpipes can lead to blockages due to freezes and debris. With no practical way to clear them. Dumping into basins will greatly reduce the chances of those problems. Like this .

Can one guy get a 4 post lift home and build it solo with only basic garage tools? My journey....

Last year, I paid $865 for the delivery and install of an Advantage XLT. The previous two XLTs, I had them deliver (inside my garage) but I assembled them solo. The fee was $250 for a rollback to slide the packages into a garage bay. This was in 2019. When I get the next one, I won't even give...

    Gutters on a Hip Roof

And this is the system for moving the water away. The left and right sides of the building are run to daylight about 100' away. My intention is to place landscape rock around the building to dress these collection basins up.

    Gutters on a Hip Roof

Here's nearly 50 feet of gutter. This is an "L" shaped garage. The downspout on the right side is also catching half of the hip that turns into a gable heading to the back of the building.

I need to pull saplings and small trees. help!

Huh? If the sapling are the appropriate size for the puller, it takes maybe 60 seconds to set the jaws, rock it back and then move to the next one. The only way it's taking 5 or 6 minutes per sapling is it they're too large to be pulled. Or the puller is checking his/her phone every time it...
