want to convert t8's to l.e.d.'s

It's too easy just to remove the ballast and rewire the tombstones for LED tubes. I did both lights in my garage in 15 minutes.

Looking for advice turning this into an auto-centric workshop.

One of our production areas-turned-warehouse space had it around the entire 150,000 sq. ft. building. It was painted around the same timeframe. I see it all over the internet in shops, home garages, etc.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I needed casters that size last year. It was cheaper to buy that dolly than it was to buy the same sized casters.

Looking for advice turning this into an auto-centric workshop.

That's a great space. Good luck! Off topic a bit...does anyone know where that paint scheme originated? (light gray/red stripe/dark gray) It was used in a manufacturing facility where I work, and the paint job was probably 30 years old. I see it EVERYWHERE.

New, but tipped over Lista Cabinet

Yep. Move them to the top. You can probably take the front off of one of the damaged drawers and use the remaining portion as a roll-out shelf. Lista sells roll-out shelves and fixed shelves for their cabinets. You may want to keep an eye out for replacement drawers. I see them from time...

Can gasoline be used as paint thinner?

That's the way to go. I've painted and refinished quite a few pieces of furniture over the past 20 years or so, and I finally had to get rid of an old thinner can last year. It was about 80% full of solids. I do the first couple of brush washes with the used stuff to get it about 90% clean...

What to do with folding tables

I have a ten foot stepladder that I only use a couple of times a year. It's on some hangers, lying flat, about 8" from my garage ceiling. I put my folding tables on top of it. My ceiling height is about 8'6".

New Dream Garage Build - Help me not make dumb mistakes!

Anything I build after my current home will be with done with Joe Lstiburek's "Perfect Wall" concept. I like your concept, though. https://www.buildingscience.com/documents/insights/bsi-001-the-perfect-wall

Too sterile. And damn sure too expensive (for me). :)

How should I finish this workbench?

Polyurethane without a doubt. I did it on a plywood worktop, and it worked great. My first couple of coats tended to be about 2:1 thinner/poly to help it soak in and harden the surface a bit. l added a coat per day until it had 7 coats. Nothing ever stained it. Dents? Yeah, but it was a...

    Storing airless sprayer

A repair technician I once knew years ago always advised the contractors coming to our store to store the sprayers with paint thinner in them short AND long-term. It held off corrosion and prevented freezing and breakage. On another note, every week during winter a different painter would...

Turpentine - How do you discard it?

I use paint thinner instead of turpentine, but maybe this'll work for you. Do solids settle in the old turpentine? If so, continue to use the old turpentine until it's not effective. I have an old gallon can of paint thinner that I constantly reuse. It's almost half full of solids from...

Drilling a hole in porcelain coated cast iron sink.

I might try this: 1. Draw the circle where the hole will be drilled, but make the circle 1/4" - 3/8" larger in diameter than actual hole needs to be. Make sure the faucet's covers or escutcheons will cover the larger circle. 2. Use a Dremel and small cutting wheels to carefully grind out...

    Cleaning Nicotine Garage Doors

I've used Greased Lightning on the walls of my grandmother's old house. That's some good stuff. Or use whatever else has potassium hydroxide in it.

What Used to Be Bolted to the Floor Here?

Looks just about right for either a 3.5" or 4" pipe flange based on the tape measure and depending on whether it's type 150 or type 300. If the old owner was anything like my dad, ANYthing could've been mounted there on a piece of pipe.

    PT Deck Sealer

Thompson's was great...when it was the only thing on the market. Another vote for Flood products.
