Ah, Ok. That makes sense. Is this why SO and CM boxes are more collectible - because they manifactured them themselves vs others where it’s basically the same thing / different logo? Made in 1961, probably (I am guessing based on the stamp)?

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

That looks IDENTICAL (except the handles), but those are easy enough to swap. So I wonder what the deal is? Cornwell and MAC used the same manufacturer and different badging? All three of my boxes are Cornwell, with the roller getting a fake MAC badge? It looks too factory for that, but who...

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

Tore into the stack I got a couple of weeks ago. At the time it was advertised as an all MAC stack, but when I brought it home I saw that the top is actually Cornwell (has a badge inside). Then the vintage of the MAC roller was brought into question, since it has rolling (rather than sliding)...

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

Just checked. Even cleaned out that section - nothing. No date on the sheet - I looked there first. What would have been the handle of the removable tray? It's missing ... I should also add - the MAC rolling cab has ball bearing drawers! :-)

I assume you mean inside the top lip? As in, to the left of the Cornwell badge that I put in the photo (which is on the bottom of the top drawer)?

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

Since I found those two MAC side boxes, I have been on a hunt for a stack. Thought I found one, and since I didn't get a reply on this above, I figured at the price the seller agreed to, I couldn't pass it up. Brought it up, and now ... I find out that the top box is actually Cornwell -...

No, I passed based on the advice here. He was willing to take $200, but I don’t know the condition.

Any help on dating these? Obviously I now need to assemble a matching stack, but would love to understand how old they are, and how to find matching ones other than stylistically (handle style, etc).

The VINTAGE toolboxes of Garage Journal!

This must be MAC week. Just scored these two beauties for not much green. HEAVY suckers! I know they are side boxes - now I just gotta find a main box! I Googled the model numbers, and found this ad. Anything else you can tell me about these - I would love to learn! Specifically the age, etc.

Let's Hear it for the Old Gray/Red Sears Craftsman Tool Chests and Cabinets (60s/70s)

I have been wanting one of these gray/red Craftsmans for a while, and they either don't come up, or I am out of town when they do and they go quick. This one looks to be in good shape (haven't seen it in person yet) - my question is - what would you pay for this stack?

Looking to Give a Low Angle Plane as a Gift - Need Advice

Thanks - I looked at these on Amazon, and the Mexico made ones get really bad reviews. Price range isn't the biggest issue, but I do think that some of the high end stuff above is overkill - he just isn't the kind to appreciate something like that. His specific request was "If you find one of...
