Unknown british? 1/4" ratchet. King ****?

Thanks, that catalogue is fantastic. The only reference I have is a 1953 buck hickman catalogue which shows their usual flag ratchet for this set. That 1947 catalogue shows a different ratchet again, I e not seen that before either. Maybe the ratchet is king ****. Maybe in the early days they...

Unknown british? 1/4" ratchet. King ****?

Named after the owners bulldog. Back in the days when **** just ment Richard and not much else 😂 Decent quality vintage British made tools, but not ones I ever pay much attention too. Only bought this set as it's tiny (box is 5 1/4"), packed with items, 70 years old, complete, and cheap.

Unknown british? 1/4" ratchet. King ****?

Bought a nice 1950's 1/4" king **** socket set today. Has this ratchet in it. I can't find anything similar made by king ****. It's not stamped, but some of the parts that are deffinately king **** aren't stamped either. Anyone recognise it? Could possibly be home made as the construction...

I really like that stand. Like a crane! Vice looks great too, I know nothing about it though!

Parkinson ball base vice. Picked this up with no jaws. Has a piece missing at the back too that I need to work out how to repair.

    British Tool Manufacturers

Recently purchased 1950s king **** set. I think this is set tks411, or maybe tks414. BA, whitworth and square sockets. BA tubular spanners, screwdriver bit, spinner, T bar, 5" and 2" extensions. Has one presumably home made socket extra stamped JASON. Also has an unusual ratchet. I can find no...

No brand prentiss vice? Now with pics!

I'm jumping the gun a bit with this post. Pics will come on a few days when it's in my hands. Been reading alot, and looking at photos online. Being in the UK, I don't know much about prentiss. But, seems it's probably a no.20, after 1911 as jaws are removable, but before 1920 as no side...

No brand prentiss vice? Now with pics!

Searching photos, maybe it could also be a Columbian?

No brand prentiss vice? Now with pics!

Did prentiss ever sell vices without their name.cast in them? I don't have pictures yet, but i have a vice coming that looks just like a prentis swivel rear jaw vice but has no makers name. Spindle nose is square though. Has swivel base lock on the right hand side and no cast boss where a left...

    "Fixie" 3 jaw bench vice

These cam/lever type action vices are fantastic! Something else I'll have to keep an eye open for but will no doubt NEVER see. I'm not convinced any info on this fixie will surface. I've posted about it in the 2 main vice collector areas of the internet and nothing.

They are cool! The partners further down are epic! Alot of good stuff on that page.

    "Fixie" 3 jaw bench vice

Had to drill the last jaw bolt out. Ordered new ones. Gave it a scrub in degreaser and I suspect it's original colour wad black. There are traces inside. Also this casting mark is more visible, 5784. If that was a date, I'd assume it's 1957. I'll give it a quick wire brush, then de rust in...

    "Fixie" 3 jaw bench vice

Depressing! You got swiveling rear jaws though, we didn't.

    "Fixie" 3 jaw bench vice

Normally on top, or sides, of the rear jaw.

They are, yes. No quick releases in the US?

    "Fixie" 3 jaw bench vice

They are rare compared to most 'normal' vices, but yes, seems to be plenty of them out there. I think they just do t change hands too often. Do yours have the military arrow stamp anywhere? I think the reason I haven't used the fortis yet is because there doesn't seem to be a great deal of...

https://worldwide.espacenet.com/patent/search/family/009993150/publication/GB183263A?q=pn%3DGB183263A That's all the info I, or the folk of the mig-welding forum, have found. And it's not even about my vice 😂 As I say, not found anything at all for mine.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

The patents, and I assume all the early info, are for the vice in this advert... I have heard of mentions of a revised version which may be what I have. Or it may be that my 6" vice is just a completely different design to the 4". I'm not sure as I have found no images of any jerrims fixie...

    Vise Info Thread

I will, yes. There is a patent online, and this advert in the buck hickman catalogue, but it's completely different and 2" smaller.

Yes, I have a few more but not many. Only owned it a few days. The uploaded on here doesn't seem to like all the pics though. This is all I have right now. I'll take more as I clean it up though
