Little Giant is excellent quality. I have 5 ladders and a 3 and 4 step Jumbo step stool. I have had these for over 30 yrs. and they have held up nicely.

I do my own work because I don't really trust someone else to do the job right. I also enjoy fixing things. This way I have no one to blame but myself if the work is not done correctly.

None of my 24 baby bullets have a base like that. I did not know that type of base and swivel existed. I only have 4 with a swivel base though. Most of mine are mounted on Pow-R-Arm holders.

Maybe an 8" Wilton Tradesman 1780. Doesn't open wide enough to be a Wilton combination vise. The largest combination vise is the C3 which has 6" jaws.

I would just cut the damaged part of the spindle off and use it. Losing that little bit of opening shouldn't matter IMO. If you want it to be like new I can sell you a spindle or a spindle with handle installed. I made 10 of them about a month ago. Message me if you want to go that route...

Cut off the damaged threads at the end of the spindle. Grind the end of the spindle with a little taper to ease the insertion of the spindle into the nut. Screw the spindle into the nut and see if it seems fairly tight and smooth. It it is then you are set. The thread is indeed 3/8-10 acme...

All baby bullets are cast the same. I have no idea why someone would machine the base that way. The baby bullet just sits on top of the swivel base. The two pins hold both the end cap and the nut to the main vise casting. You are correct about the spindle and the nut still being stuck, but...

Someone ground down the outer circumference of the bottom. The bottom should be totally flat. If the spindle is binding up then there must be some damage to the acme thread on the spindle or the acme thread on the nut that it threads into. You need to take off the end cap by removing the 2...
