    Replacing wiring nightmare!

So the school of thought on that is that we could have several circuits running off of the 30A main breaker, as long as the total amount of usage does not max out the 30A main, I.E. if 3 branch breakers are running 12A each at the same time, we are good. Am I in the ball park?

    Replacing wiring nightmare!

Gotcha, so he can run MHF inside conduit to the buildings and go from there. I think the cost on the MHF is a little bit less than other options. I think overall, we are going to look at a 30A feeder breaker as previously mentioned. Which will allow him to to run a few 15A breakers in the...

    Replacing wiring nightmare!

So could he use a mobile home feeder cable out there that has all of the wires sheathed? I am assuming that if he adds a subpanel out there, he will need to add grounding rods as well?

    Grounding rod suggestions......

Still haven't ran those. That is happening this weekend. The plan was to run 4 wires. You guys are right, I did not understand the way to ground the subpanel box on the interior of the building. I will just go with running the grounding wire outside the building and then grounding...

    Grounding rod suggestions......

So would I just run them back out of another LB from the box into the ground with schedule 40 and then drive them into the ground appropriately?

    Grounding rod suggestions......

Gents, so I am in a bit of a time crunch here as my concrete guy moved my timeline up a week. I currently have the building done and the subpanel box hung, with an LB on the exterior that will be used to feed my 3 gauge wire from the house. Anywho, I will carry the ground from the house into...

    Replacing wiring nightmare!

He may have to skip the welder and just worry about lights and tools. I should have stated that these are more of sheds than they are buildings. Each one is less than 200 Square feet. Any idea on how we can do this without having to put in such a large subpanel?

    Running outlets in a garage.

Wow. That sounds similar to my situation. I only had 2 in a common wall between the garage and basement. So you have the 220 dedicated to your compressor already done? What size garage do you have? If I were you, I would look at adding more in order to avoid power strips and what have you. If...

    Replacing wiring nightmare!

Gents, I am helping my neighbor sort through a wiring mess that was left by the previous homeowner. He has several outbuildings that are powered by a single home made extension cord that was created from 10/2. The distance of the buildings is about 250' and he plugged it into the in law suite...

    Shelving construction......

Ok guys, after seeing the pictures of some of your shelving setups I figured I would start a thread in regards to different types of shelving construction. I currently have a bare shell and would like to start on the shelving prior to moving anything in there. I am planning on workbenches in...

    Running water to garage........

Unfortunately, it is a finished basement so I will be unable to run it below grade through the basement wall. The most direct route would be to come out through the garage wall and Go into the ground, however that is where the exposed pipe will come from. Even at the rim joist in the ceiling...

    Running water to garage........

So you are thinking that by just using the closed cell foam around the water pipe such as PEX will insulate it enough to run the water out to the garage? I wish it were that easy, however I may have to go with a rain barrel or something like that with a pump in it. Or just **** it up and walk...

    Running water to garage........

Sounds like this is going to get a little more complicated than I thought. I like the idea of running a channel with sand in it or something like that in order to insulate it, however that would require a little more planning than I am prepared to do right now, as the ditch witch will be here...

    Running water to garage........

Yeah, sounds like my options are limited unless I were to go all the way back into the driveway and find the main supply and then branch off of that. Which will be quite the pain. I live just outside of Nashville, so it doesn't get awful, but it sure gets cold enough to freeze exposed pipes...

    Running water to garage........

Hey guys, just wanted to bounce a few things off of you guys that have may done something like this before. I would like to run water our to my new shop that I am building, however the only place that I will be able to tap into water is in the garage of my home. The water lines are in the...

    Another Insulation Dilemma........

Exactly what I was thinking as well. Being that the top will actually be open and allow the air to rise to the ceiling, it should dissipate with no issues. Hopefully.......

    Another Insulation Dilemma........

I think your talking about the one in the green can right? I think it says pest blocker or something like that. I have already gotten started on a few areas with the regular stuff and totally forgot about that. I will pick some up today and press on with it. At the very least, I will really...

    Another Insulation Dilemma........

So, after all of this discussion.......... I realized that I should just ask my builder as he has been building these in the area for over 20 years and has one of the best reputations around based on his construction techniques. He said skip the foam board, and just put R-19 in between the...

    Another Insulation Dilemma........

Thanks for the link, but I have been doing some research on the DIY spray foam kits and have seen marginal reviews at best. I would hate to drop that kind of money on something that may not work the way I need it to.

    Another Insulation Dilemma........

I see. Starting to make sense now. Based on this option, if I were to use the PolyIso foam over it, will that conflict with having the paper side of the insulation facing out? I really like the idea of having continuous insulation inside the shop, just need to make sure that putting the...
