    Viper Pro 72" review

After reading this thread, about the US General 44" Harbor Freight boxes being about the best thing in the world, I took a long hard look at my 41" Armor Viper top chest and bottom rollaway. I didn't go as far as that guy in the thread above, but I noticed a lot of little things, where the US...

    S.O. Ratcheting screwdriver

This. I grabbed one back in 2001, when Sears was selling orange Harley Davidson branded Bahco tools with Snap-On handles and date codes. It's very nice, but I've basically never used it. I've held on to it all these years and probably used it two or three times. Those times were a pleasure...

    Craftsman Made in USA Tools

I have. But I believe it was a factory defect, which happened within a few years of buying it. It was Craftsman's first fully polished set. They were thicker in the middle, between the ends. I thought they were made by S•K. My 15mm went "springy" on me one day. The metal around the...

What brand(s) of USA made tools are here to stay?

"If you can't beat 'em, join 'em" - type of thing happened to me. I remember how disappointed I was when I tried to warranty my USA Craftsman tool and they offered me a Chinese one that I nearly missed. At the counter, I noticed and said, that's not cool. I took their offer of store credit...

That link no longer works, "Sorry, we couldn’t find that page. The page you are looking for may have been moved, updated or deleted." Does anyone know of the new URL?

    Do not buy...

Two words: Knipex Pliers Wrench. I only have two of them, a six-inch, and a twelve, but that twelve-inch opens up to accommodate 1-5/8 inches. The smaller 6" one has a 1-inch jaw opening. The smaller 6-inch one might be my favorite hand-tool, it makes me happy when I get to use it, and...

Question about circular saw baseplate shapes

Why do some circular saws have this 45º shoulder in the shoe? If it's important, what can this type of baseplate do that a rectangular one can't do? I was using a straight-edge as a fence to cut straight, then I hit that bevelled area on the saw's baseplate, and the saw instantly went off...

Any catastrophic tool failures that caused you to switch brands?

I had a similar experience, also with a universal. They like to explode and go flying. There were three of us, and luckily didn't hit any of us, be we all freaked out about its velocity and it left a dent in the drywall in his garage. We were using it "wrong", so I'm not sure you should only...

    First "Large" Socket Set Recommendations

That Tekton 4817 set skips a lot of sizes (missing 16, 20, 23, 25, 26, 28, 29, and 31mm) , and those hinges on those cases wear out and break off after a while. For only like 6x the price, the GP lid snaps off for tool drawers, and the case is very nice. It skips 31mm.

Places you DON'T want to find Snap On tools

Snap-On's tool control systems mean it's probably not a snapon wrench. OP fabricated details to get more hits, he cannot be trusted.

    First "Large" Socket Set Recommendations

Axle nut. I know I bought a 36mm specifically for by bug, back in the day. I love my DUO Grey Pneumatic set that goes to 36mm in metrics without skipping any sizes, and 1.5" in Imperial. (I think). The cases are even rreally nice, and the sockets are sick. They're full-on CroMo too, not...

    Laser etched sockets

Craftsman (Armstrong) made the laser-only etched sockets only for a short while. Once they realized it was a mistake, I exchanged (no hassle) all my laser-only sockets in for dual-marked . . . all except two. They didn't have the 8mm and 9mm in dual-markings, so I had to keep those. I don't...

    New giant craftsman tool box

I read a very intense thread about the construction of many toolboxes, and realized my Viper isn't as intense as I thought it was. Its drawers don't have "rolled edges" and it's undercarriage doesn't have an intense tube frame or anything. It was cheap for how nice it feels in use, it's...

Who has a really small tool box?

This box is strong and small, and made of steel (probably doesn't really count though, does it?): Comes in very handy. It's very portable, yet it's kind of heavy for how small it is. It's one of my favorite tiny kits.

Well, you have his ADDRESS . . . I URGE you to post it here. And that'd be taking it EASY on the schmuck. What's worse is how he led you on for over a year, feeding you ********. Then, anyone who lived near him could pay him a visit ;)
