I just got the thinkcar 689bt. I haven’t used it yet. Mainly got it from the good reviews and lifetime updates.

    Welding Helmet Recommendations (Auto Darkening)

I’m only a hobby welder but I’ve used a few helmets and currently have 3. I use the speedglas 9100xxi for tig welding. Great view and comfortable. I use a miller digital infinity w clear sight 2.0 for MiG welding. Great view and I used it for everything before I got the speedglas. My only...

    Quincy 325 help

Got the caps off. I’m no expert but I think the cylinders look good, pistons look good, and crank journals look good. Got a full tune up kit coming also.

    Quincy 325 help

Thanks Mac for all the info. I got it most apart. Having some trouble getting the connecting rod caps off at the moment. I’ll probably just start fresh with all the piping since it seems to need new setups anyway. Check out the pics. It looks like it’s been rebuilt before and inside the...

    Quincy 325 help

So I got a great deal on a Quincy qt-54 compressor with no motor. Got a nos marathon motor and added a magnetic starter. I recently was shooting the breeze and started reading about the 325 compressor. The itch hit and I went on marketplace and got one for what seemed like a fair price. I can’t...

    Columbian vise jaw dimensions

I’ll send this info to the machinist and see what he can do with it. I’ll also make some measurements to compare. Gratitude

    Columbian vise jaw dimensions

That’s pretty much where I’m at and hoping someone here has the jaws to measure.

    Columbian vise jaw dimensions

Thanks for your reply. I have both vises but I don’t have the jaws for neither. I trusted a machinist and sent them to him to have a new set fabricated and one set cleaned up. I have a new machinist to make the jaws but now need the actual size. I haven’t been able to find it online as yet.

    Columbian vise jaw dimensions

Hey guys. I need to have some jaws machined for my columbian 6” vises and don’t have the old jaws. Does anyone know the exact dimensions for the 506/606 T shaped jaws? TIA

    Saylor-Beall compressor question

I just got home from work. Never heard back from the guy selling the compressor. I’m gonna pop the head of the compressor and see if it is just the valves. I’ll update when I finish it.

    Saylor-Beall compressor question

Hey guys. I’m having issues with my HF 29 gallon compressor. It’s not building pressure past 30psi. I just looked on marketplace and saw this compressor for sale. It’s a 703 compressor. Price seems fair at $375. What do experts think about it? Worth it to get and junk the HF or try to repair the...

    Kalamazoo horizontal bandsaw

I never thought about the tabletop ones. More things to look at. I’m still getting good at my tig welding before I do the real exhaust build so I have the luxury of time to look for a good used one before I drop the coin on a new one. Thanks for the advice. It’s appreciated.

    Kalamazoo horizontal bandsaw

@GeoBruin thats some good advice. I already don’t have too much extra space with the tools I’ve gathered since joining GJ. I’ll keep watching marketplace while considering a small jet or grizzly band saw as you recommended.

    Kalamazoo horizontal bandsaw

I’m really just making custom exhausts out of my garage. I have a 12” dry cut saw with an evolution stainless steel blade that didn’t do a good job cutting tube for me to practice on. That’s what prompted me to look into a horizontal one. I like good made in America tools but don’t wanna have a...

    Kalamazoo horizontal bandsaw

Looking at this Kalamazoo band saw and wanna know if it’s worth it. I hear they are very good saws. Here are pics and what the guy selling it says it needs. I don’t mind fixing up something good but don’t wanna have to bring it back from the brink since I’ve never repaired a metal cutting...

    Craftsman Belt/disc sander

Sounds like the 113 is the best for what I’ll be doing. It’s wood working, some metal working, and some exhaust fab work.

    Craftsman Belt/disc sander

I don’t have room unfortunately. Because of this great site I’ve already amassed mad vises, drill presses, c-clamps, and a couple bandsaws. I love this site but it causes an addiction that is space limited by my garage. what are the strengths and weaknesses of each?

    Craftsman Belt/disc sander

I have a chance to get the 572.247600 belt/disc sander or the 113 series with the 4” belt and 6” disc. Is one better than the other or it really doesn’t matter?

    Baldor or Block grinder

I would love to keep both but space comes into play. I’m gonna go ahead and keep the Baldor since it’s the Cadillac of grinders. Seber…that’s some good info. I hadn’t even considered using 6” wheels on the Baldor. They would do in a pinch which is one of the things I was worried about. Thanks
