    I think across the spectrum of manufacturers this is perhaps the biggest weakness of most of them. It's hard to search through the recorded video. Even when you know where to look it's still hard to get there.

    In the years I worked with my dad all we ever did was leave the pipe sticking out of the wall and made sure it was fastened properly in the wall.

    This indeed correct. In the past 3 wire feeds have been acceptable but only if you install a new ground. Either rods or a plate. This eliminated that "parallel path" issue.

    Can you elaborate further on this point. How can a bonded neutral at a sub panel be a shock hazard yet a bonded neutral at the main ne fine.

    I have a 30 year old "conventional fan" air conditioner and the only reason I was able to purchase a new fan or under $300 was because we have a very good work relationship.

    I went to a dryer that was wired like this. The customer complained that their appliance wasn't working right. I opened the plug and expected the worst. Once I corrected the wiring the dryer worked. Sometimes you get lucky.

    Hook it up to 120 volts and give it a spin. From that picture it looks like you can't change the motor to 240.

    Obviously. But the perks of having a 600v supply outweigh the drawbacks of needing transformer. With 600v you can run 50 HP with a #6 wire.

    If your garage is on a residential property you won't get 3 phase. If you're in a commercial area all you will have to do is pay the bill.

    If you want to get "in" somewhere the best way is to know someone. Small companies are a great place to learn. The union shops have their place but it's not for everyone.

    Garage opening on alley

    Mine open into the alley, of course I live in town and I didn't have any other choice. In a general sense we don't worry about crime. The doors get locked. We all know that if they want in, they will get in.
