    Sandblast cabinet -what media

The whole reason I finally put that cabinet together is because I’m in the middle of an engine rebuild. BUT, I have only done the valve covers and oil pan with sandblasting, which can easily be cleaned out. The intake manifold, which I cleaned last weekend, I used strictly the parts washer, as I...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I think they pretty much do that on purpose so we bring our vehicles back to the dealership for service, or so they think. :) Just put 2 new batteries in my 2011 Duramax last week. Amazing the amount of unnecessary junk I have to remove to get the batteries in and out. I hate to say it, but the...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

The one under the back seat of my ‘71 GTO is still there. The line worker who put it in there stuck it between the seat bottom and support spring. I can grab it, but will tear if I pull on it. I’ve never really seen a reason to pull the back seat bottom out, so there it sits.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I don’t Facebook, but my wife sent this to me today. I was able to watch it even though I don’t have an account. Hilarious, and spot on for me, https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid0itsTqs4jLEZ967BJ56wzinXRpWyNrWwWbeQ7YrDUu9D9hQS7pjXVLnGNavm9PbXnl&id=100057609123246

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Pulled the truck in to change the batteries, it’s getting cold, and these 3 1/2 year old batteries are about to die. Jeez, I can’t believe the price of batteries these days! On to the next project, brakes on my wife’s Toyota. Stopped at a parts store on the way home from work to pick up the...

    Sandblast cabinet -what media

Thanks for all the info people. I didn’t think this would be an issue, but,…. Calling around today, Tractor Supply has medium and fine grit, a big box store about 40 miles away has coarse, but it’s silica. The private owned building supply place only has coarse silica. I live in a pretty rural...

I would estimate 98% of its use would be blasting rust off steel parts.

    Sandblast cabinet -what media

I just assembled my blast cabinet. Cheap HF one a bought a couple years ago, but never had room to set it up. Just wondering what you guys are using, and pros and cons. I have a hopper type one for outdoor use that I used to run a pretty aggressive black grit through. I assume this would also...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

I finally started assembling my cheap HF sandblasting cabinet I bought a couple years back. I’m going to need to sandblast a few parts next week, so figured it’s high time I put this together. My son bought a project 4 wheeler last week, cheap. Now he gets to learn how to do motorcycle clutches! :)

    My father's workbench

Exactly. I buy those when I see them at garage sales or resale shops. I hang them around my shop and outside. Cheap to collect

    Uncluttered, spotless garage, sick people

My wife always tells me how her parents got divorced. Her dad and uncle carried a motorcycle engine up to the 2nd floor apartment they lived in, then proceeded to rebuild it in their bathtub. I suspect this wasn’t the first and only time things like this happened. :)

It’s a 326 V8 version. The original engine is long gone. Now has a ‘69 400 under the hood.

Ever do something so stupid you wonder if you should be left unsupervised?

Oh, and another one. About 3 months ago I discovered that my hydrocortisone cream and toothpaste tubes look exactly the same on their backside, and even on my toothbrush. They do NOT taste the same. I now keep the hydrocortisone in a different drawer.

Ever do something so stupid you wonder if you should be left unsupervised?

Just last night, I was checking the clearance between my piston ring and it‘a groove. It’s supposed to be no more than 006”. Well, I had grabbed the feeler gauges that my son uses on his motorcycles, it’s metric! I didn’t know that. I was wondering why I was coming up with .010”. I was already...

    Uncluttered, spotless garage, sick people

I married a woman whose dad was an auto mechanic. She doesn’t say anything about the “stuff” in my shop, and always wants to go for a ride in one of the “hot rods”. She likes me fixing things around the house, so can’t complain about my tools. The attached garage is hers. You can’t even walk in...
