    Meross Smart Garage Opener

I have had the Meross wifi version installed for a year or so now. My opener is an older Genie. The setup was pretty simple, and have it integrated into my Home Assistant environment. Its been pretty solid. I recall it did not like being segregated from the internet, and would misbehave...

    well water pressure problem

hi yes I think the bladder in the tank may be shot, if this is a sudden issue. You can use a tire gauge to measure the air pressure. If any water comes out that side you know its been compromised.

Check my schematic for limit switches

Circuit should be pretty simple. The limit switches (normally closed) are in series with the window up / down switch. The upper switch is in series with the up limit, lower switch in series with the down limit.

    Small concrete order

order from company that mixes onsite, on the truck. A bit more per yard, but they mix exactly what you need. Most of the guys around here can also provide the labor to get it where you need it.

    Code Question for the Sparkies

you could have a look at a z-wave controlled relay at the pump, and keep your wiring as-is, no need for smart switch in the house. Zooz or Shelly have numerous options. You would need a z-wave controller as well, so yes another device to manage, but I've found the z-wave stuff is pretty...

Kohler Command Woes... Seeking carb advice

I have a 15 hp Kohler command in my lawn tractor. Last spring it gave me exactly same symptoms - surging idle, up and down like it was goign to stall, around a 3 second interval just like you mentioned. I had ended up removing the carb, installed a new carb-manifold gasket (OG looked rough)...

Sauna Build - Wood Boiler Heated?

Good on you to finally build a sauna! I agree with the replies - the boiler simply wont be able to get the sauna to a 'useable' temperature to enjoy. There's nothing worse than a luke-warm sauna! A simple wood fired sauna stove would be the way to go. There are also a few sauna builds on...

    Winter Window Moisture

We're in similar climates, and I have found that running the furnace fan on low continously makes a big difference. We do have one window in a spare bedroom that is lower quality than the others, and it accumulates a lot of moisture even with the fan running. So we use the window film on that...

Insect damage to bottom of wall studs

that longer stud may have been hammered in after the wall was put together, and forced the gap. but I dont see any toenailing though, so maybe the short studs were like that right from the get go

Hoist from ceiling truss - what do you think?

time will tell. Usually not a great idea to stress a single truss as you know. But... the weights you are talking about arent crazy.

    Dual Battery Sump Pump Setup?

Does your sump pump have a standalone float switch that the pump plugs into at the wall? If you wanted to switch the inverter on/on only when the sump needs to be cleared, you could plug the inverter into the float switch, and plug the pump into the inverter. The inverter would have to be...

Feedback on venting plan on sloped roof with no attic

Good question. Ontario building code spells it out minimum ceiling height clearly for most living spaces, and specifies 2100 mm (82 5/8") for 'other' spaces. The OP would have to check for thier area...

Feedback on venting plan on sloped roof with no attic

Hi, I would go with 2x8 rafters to give you more space between the insulation and roof deck. With the extra air space, you wont need the baffles. Edit: assuming your sauna 'hot' part is going to be a smaller section of this building. You typically want a shorter ceiling in the hot part (like...

    Garage Door Safety Sensor Protection

Bend up a piece of flat bar into a 'C', with bent tabs at each end that you can mount to the wall vertically over each sensor. Use whatever stock width you have, 2" or so should be enough to protect it but you can go as wide as you need to. Drill some holes through the face if you want to...

Sump pump battery backup - AGM or Lithium?

Thanks for all the replies. Man I wish batteries were that cheap here in Canada. AGMs start in the 300's, and any lithium ion battery is going to be 4-$500. I will probably take the advice of sticking to the larger wet cell, as that has worked for me in the past. My old battery was a class 31...
