Make sure a housekeeper is not using a floor cleaner like Pledge on it. My wife will occasionally use one of those Pledge wipes on a spot on our floors and I can immediately tell the difference. It is like it has oil on that spot.

Uh, you bought the carpet and installation from HD, not the individual contractor or the carpet manufacturer. HD is on the hook and guarantees their (contractor's) work and materials. You need to move this up the HD chain to a real boss/manager. Do not let them get away with this. Be nice...

Before you commit to epoxy, at least read up the porcelain tile threads and get some pricing for materials and labor. I would not even consider an epoxy floor coating as I have never, ever, seen one that has not lifted, discolored, bubbled, etc., after a couple years of use with daily drivers...

I would not run any lines in the floor itself. Ceiling and walls for any of that. 4" thickness minimum with rebar 18" apart raised 2" above gravel (small styrofoam blocks you wire to the rebar to keep it from sinking to the gravel once the cement is covering it) over a nicely compacted gravel...

I would have stopped that check immediately. Did you check to see if this clown was licensed and bonded?

Just use a bunch of old scrap carpet, rugs, moving pads and cover the concrete and soak the rugs, etc. Keeps the moisture in and slows the drying process.

Get everything in writing and do not pay then until the job is 100% complete to her satisfaction. I would check every step of the process to make sure they are not pouring her a 2" thick driveway, etc. Go see a couple of driveways they have recently done and speak to the homeowner.

Have it removed while it is still green and have it poured over.

Whenever I have tile done I like to keep about 10 extra tiles in the event something happens a few years later and you need a repair. In a garage, where a lift, floor jacks and a roll-away are being used I would stash a box of tiles in the attic just in case. It would be just my luck to break...
