    HF44 bench design - for the non-welder

Nice work! Thanks for posting the the thought process and analysis behind the build. I'm still paranoid though and would probably put some front supports in. Just in case something heavy gets put on the bench, or who knows what happens. (then again I tend to over build, that's why I...

Overhead door size? 2 smaller or 1 large?

If you can make the building 64' long, I would do that and use all 4' on the car work area. Then put in 2, 9' wide doors (8' tall or more if 4wd vehicles or trucks and vans are in the mix.) At 20' wide, the car work area will be tight for a second vehicle after a lift is installed. If a...

Above 1200 Sq/FT The ASYLUM - Happy 40th Birthday to Me! (Est. 2005)

Shopnut; I have reached a major milestone in your thread. After countless hours of productive reading (as opposed to non productive wasted time) :D over the last couple of weeks, I have reached the halfway point of your thread. (page 91) Several times I wanted to ask questions, but just kept...

    RXtacy's small detached rotary haven

RX; After looking at the picture again, it was an optical illusion. The front wall of the pit looked like it was horizontal and covering the opening. I thought you had made some removable covers so the jacks wouldn't accidentally fall in the opening. Sorry for the confusion.

    RXtacy's small detached rotary haven

RXTacy; Thanks for the size information. I just want 14' between the open gates, so that should be a minor increase in spacing. I think the material you used will be fine. i currently have a wooden fence (hate wood fences) with a 10' double gate supported by 6x6 posts with a light metal frame...

    In-floor Scissor Lift Install

Airbrush; Not knowing your location, that is a tough question to answer. Heat, humidity, rain, snow, Sun, all affect exposed equipment. I've had the same thought myself about an outdoor installation. Here in the south I've seen a couple full size 2 post installations outside with a tall metal...

    RXtacy's small detached rotary haven

RXtacy; Nice clean shop! Just read through the process. A couple more questions about your gates: What bearings did you use? Got a link? I'm assuming they are designed for outdoor use. Is that a 12' wide gate? Very clean look. I need to do something similar in a 12 to 14 foot width. For a 14'...

    Need power to my shed

I've always found that once I have power somewhere, I come up with more things I can use the power for. I would run the 10/3 at 220. However, since you don't have the same requirements, I would at least install the 10/2 and the 20 amp breaker. It'll give you maximum use from 110v.

    Kevin54's....."The Addition"

Kevin; That is awesome! 6 months start to "finish" is an incredibly short time! Just goes to show what good planning and a clear vision for the end result can do. I just "invested"/wasted  the greater part of 2 days free time reading through this thread and learned a number of...

Re: The Lone Beech Garage Build Thread (60x46) Scott; Love the building plan, thanks for sharing. And, I'm jealous of the sink, I'll have to check out the surplus place, next time I get to Newnan. The boss wants one for her laundry and I want one for the shop. Guess who gets first pick?:argue:

My Build: Simply a Mr. Jack Olsen inspired 1930 Auto Bunker House Geobarn Homage

My daughter was always in my shop when she was growing up. She graduated from High school and had her Associates degree by 17 and a half. Got a job, moved out, her first request was for a drill, as none of her room mates could fix anything!!:rocker: So start 'em young! As far as RPM, I'll...
