    What grit sanding belt and disc for steel/welding prep?

    I was given a 6" disc/ 4"x36" belt sander that I plan to use for metal prep. Biggest would probably be 1/4" plate and putting a 45" angle on it prior to welding. What grit belt should I pickup? I believe it's a 3/4hp model, so I can't get too aggressive. Thanks!
