Way to clean small carb jets the right way.

Ultra sonic cleaners are the ticket. Using a solution of simple green and water works on about 95% of the carbs that come thru the shop. A dollar store product called awesome works as a substitute for simple green.

Why is old steel so much better then new??

Some of it is still out there but people won't pay for the quality. Take your basic old pocket knife, most today aren't worth carrying. Schatt&Morgan out of Titusville PA. still makes outstanding carbon steel blades but a 3 blade stockman will cost you 125.00. Most people think that is crazy...

    Borrowing tools

Anymore I do not loan any tools at work. I spent my own money on many specialty tools, actually own more than our shop. If I'm not present the box is locked. On the farm I don't let anyone use the shop. Learned it doesn't pay to be nice the hard way. Too many missing tools, impacts etc.

    Garage + Tools = Freeloaders?

I've stopped letting anyone use my shop after three impact guns have disappeared and a transmission jack disappeared for over a year. The jack magically reaappeared one day when we weren't home. I've had the mig run out of wire, and shielding gas. The torch left with empty bottles and the...

    Why sell cheap ****?

Why sell low quality inexpensive merchandise? Because that is what 80% of the consumers want. Lowest price possible, that is all that matters. Remember this is an enthusiast site. It represents a very, very small segment of the consumer base. I saw it first hand throughout a retail career than...

SK wrenches what are your thoughts

Shop around and buy a set of long pattern Stahlwille's. Probably the strongest most durable wrench on the market. Tool polishers don't like the matte finish. Just a practical design to last a lifetime. I have ASKs well ,they are good never failed just not worth the 175.00. If you can try out...

I gathered up a long handled 1/2" SK ratchet and 10 or 12 sockets and a ton on misc tools. Called the cops and they...

making a wood boiler for radient

I agree it will heat with 106 gal, my sons run a firewood operation selling around and avi of 375 cord a year over the last five years with many customers owning wood boilers. It just seems that units under 125 gallons burn a lot more wood than units with a greater reserve capacity. Units with...

making a wood boiler for radient

My only concern is the water capacity. I've been around a lot of commercial made units like Hardy,Central Broiler,Wood Master,Earth etc. Based on personal expierence 200 to 250 gal water capacity is ideal. Units with 125 gal or less struggle on heating. My uncle is running the largest CB unit...
