Steel building contractor recommendations for NC

I appreciate it Andy, I really do. You've been helpful in some of your other PMs to me. I'm pretty pumped too: I expect to finish my framing this very weekend! Been a long haul working on it evenings/weekends, and fixing a couple of minor screwups, but this phase is finally very close to...

Steel building contractor recommendations for NC

I've mentioned this in other threads, too, but if you're opting for a turnkey I think I'd stay away from a cold-formed unless you can find an experienced contractor. I'm in the process of building my own 30x30 cold-formed and it's been challenging at times just trying to decipher the...

    Educate me on sub panels

One more quick detail, I should have added that I'd like to put a limited-use tankless water heater in the new building. Probably one of the smallest they have on the market... just for non-cold water for a sink.

    Grinder and Flap disk organization.

Holy hell! I just have all mine hanging off of screws I jammed into the wall. Time to up my game.

    Educate me on sub panels

Not looking for specific answers or advice related to code, but I need some basic info for a sub panel before I make a fool out of myself asking electricians for quotes. We're all fools here so I can hide in larger group. :p Here's my setup: I have a pole building already plumbed with a 200A...

    Lumber prices going down

I recently switched homeowner's insurance COs and this was a topic. The agents do take this into consideration these days. My house's replacement value was marked up higher due to the higher cost of construction. Seems safe to assume that these higher replacement costs are reflected in higher...

Grease guns. Are there any decent ones anymore?

Another vote for the Lock-n-lube fitting. It's super handy when I'm trying to hook onto a hard to reach ****** on my tractor. I have a semi-crappy gun however so I tend to fight with it once the hose is locked in place. I think I paid more for the lock-n-lube than I did for my gun. :|

Any decent driver extensions out there?

Beefy, is this one magnetic? I didn't really see it covered in the description, but am wondering. Also, from one Central Oregonian, subi-power syncro westy driver, to another... howdy!

Any decent driver extensions out there?

Thanks for the leads on these. I haven't seen some of these before and these are exactly what I was hoping to learn about. I'm going to pick up a few to see which ones I like. Since we're talking under $20, I can proudly state that "price is no object!". Now nobody better start giving me...

Any decent driver extensions out there?

Recently bought a set of these. Amazon is swimming with sets of these from a number of different sellers/vendors (however the hell Amazon really works?!?!). Obviously all from the same Chinese craptactular supplier. The locking collar is super cheap and the underlying spring pretty easily...

    Steel Building Erector

Not exactly the same, but I'm in the middle of erecting a building mostly by myself (CF, not red iron). Was engineered, permitted, and parts pre-fabbed. While it's a fair amount of work, it's nothing that somebody with some time, tools and general knowledge can't accomplish. Mine isn't quite...

    How can I trace this

There's some pretty ingenious, if not overly complicated, solutions here... guess I'll toss mine in here too: For the rough sidewall dimensions, I'd just lay in 4 sheets of paper that overlap. Move them each out in opposite directions until they are sitting flush with the inside walls, then...

A metal shed as a Chicken house?

I asked a similar question regarding a metal building, insulation, and condensation. While I didn't learn anything new, you might want to take a look at what I was thinking (and the links I included in my post). It might be far more "engineered" than you want for a chicken house, however.

    Blast Cabinet Improvement

I ended up cutting my screen down and then realized that I'd also have to cut down my underlying support assembly too. It was a little fiddly, but well worth the extra bit of time. I should add that I carefully tack welded the sub frame thingy once I had it cut to size (low amps... it's crazy...

    Jeep Hardtop Hoist Build

Years ago I owned a CJ7 w/ a hard top. Each spring I'd swap it for my soft top/each fall it would go back on. I just had a couple of pulleys rigged on a branch of a tree. Sling the rope up thru the hard top, cradling it evenly where needed. Using a block and tackle setup, you can lift it off...

Any advice/input on my strategy for insulating a cold rolled building?

A few reasons: - I'd like to keep it DIY as much as possible. - Most say that if you ever need to remove/replace an exterior tin panel, you're in for a world of hurt since the spray foam doesn't allow the tin to release without a fight, and you're generally left with having to redo the foam in...
