    Knife blade restore

So I picked this knife up for $5 last week. Turns out it's a "Knives of Alaska" Bush Camp fixed blade knife. Retail is $94.99. It feel excellent in my hand and is still very sharp, but the previous owner took a grinder or something too it and it looks like ****. Anyone know a good remedy to...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Thought I had the #8 coil on plug going bad on my f150. Truck was missing and kicking all the way to work and back today and it was throwing a cylinder 8 misfire. Bolt holding the COP down was loose and when I pulled it out there was water on the outside of the plug wire. Stuck the air nozzle in...

    Ideas on bracing workbench

Plywood with bolts at all 4 corners turned out to be the easiest and most secure method. Bench isn't going anywhere now.

    Steel question

I bought two framing angles for a project that I ended up fixing another way. Got back to the house and was putting them up and the light hit the side of it and drew my attention to something. It says that it is zinc coated. If you look closely at the sides you can see two different materials...

    Ideas on bracing workbench

I certainly didn't take offense to your statement and I value your contribution to this thread. I was just saying that if I can keep the front of it looking as normal as possible that will give a lot of piece of mind to my Aunt. I'm going to take a spare sheet of plywood I have laying around and...

    Ideas on bracing workbench

I know it's not a high dollar box but it belonged to my uncle and has some sentimental value to my Aunt so she doesn't want the look of it to be wildly different.

    Ideas on bracing workbench

I was over at my Aunt's house cleaning up her garage and a few things and noticed an old workbench my uncle had was in need of some care. It is leaning. I was able to stand it up straight and took a picture but it won't stay for long. Normally the top will lean to the right and the bottom will...

Debating garage door size !! two 10x8 or 1 18x8

We lived in a townhouse that had one 18x8 and our current house has 2 10x8s. Both have their pros and cons but if I had my choice I would take two 10x8s. Especially if you are going to park two vehicles side by side in the garage. With the 1 18' door my car and my wifes car made a tight fit...

How close is your shop to your house?

My "shop" is my two car drive under garage. Sadly it's right below the master bedroom and guest bedroom so any loud work has to stop when the wife goes to bed. :( If/when we sell this house I will remedy that problem.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Replaced the sway bar end link I posted about yesterday. Also thanked my lucky stars that it started raining before my wife made me start working on the 20 bags of mulch we bought.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Pulled off the front driver side tire of my F150 to fix an exhaust leak at the EGR. Fixed the leak and did a quick inspection while I was under there and found my sway bar end link was disconnected. Guess this is what I will be doing in my garage tomorrow.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Replaced the blower motor in the Corvette. Installed a toolbox in the back of the F150. Made a strap wrench out of some scrap square steel and an old seat belt. After that I just cleaned up/organized.

I have a lot of Pink shop rags

I had a couple of white T-shirts that my wife didn't care for the logo on. She 'accidentally' washed them with my shop rags. Quickly turned my t-shirts into bright pink shop shirts.

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Re: What did you do in your garage today? It was rainy and dark before I got down there so I didn't do much. The passenger side rear tire wouldn't take air. It would let air out but none of my three chucks would inflate the tire. So I did the five minute task of jacking it up all for the ten...

    Keeping Garage floor clean/dry: What's under your mower/golf cart/vehicle?

My cars don't leak anything, but it's always possible that I spill something doing an oil change/etc. I've put the rugs that my dogs have ruined down on the floor in the garage. Soaks up fluids great and makes it easier to clean up the garage. A bit of a pain to get the creeper to roll on it though.
