I finally got the big beast stood up and can't wait to get it on a scale! I'm going to get it cleaned up and then mounted on the end of my work table. Even the handle on this thing is serious. Gotta watch your fingers when it slides from one end to another :evil:

I'd have to vote for ROYCE's dual vises and stand as well. It doesn't get much cooler than that!

It's a German Blacksmith vise. I'm currently restoring the steel table that I'm going to bolt it to and hope to be done with that soon. I will post up some pictures once she's ready for action.

I'd like a scale that at least goes up to several thousand pounds so that's why I think a crane vise would be best. What's a good all-around scale to have a round the shop? I'd like to have something to weigh vises and old tools that I have laying around. I have a forklift so I could either have a hanging type scale or one that I set stuff on. I would think a hanging scale that had a high weight limit would...

You did good trijeff! I think the Reed 107s are more rare than the 108s. I need to get my 107 cleaned up and on a good stand soon.

I've only seen one other photo of a vise that large and I can't seem to find any info on either. It would be really cool to know more about these monsters.

Great work on the grille! Did you bend each slat at different degrees or does the mounting location of each slat at the top create the contoured look?
