4 post lift up or down when not in use?

I have generic Chinese 4 post lift which is outside since the attached and detached garage are both too low. I'd like to know if it's best to keep it down or up when not in use. Whether up or down there should be no pressure on the cylinder, up it's on the locks and down it's on the deck.

4 post lift hyd fluid tank cracked

I have a off shore import 4 post I bought in 2017 and keep it outside on the apron of my detached garage/shop. I keep the motor on the hyd unit covered but never bothered with covering the plastic reservoir for the fluid. I noticed the other day a small crack in one corner allowing a leak. Is...

    4 post cylinder leakage ?

I've had one of the generic Chinese 4 post lifts since last Feb and use it sparingly at home. I've noticed a little hyd oil collecting on the plastic shields they supplied for under the cylinder. Just curious how much is normal?

    Auto-Lift FP7K 4-post

Been thinking of getting a lift for just hobby usage. Both garages have low ceilings so I thought about a Max Jax but three of my old cars have running boards and splash aprons so very tall extensions would be required, and be difficult to line up under the frame rails. Found this 4 post with...

    Anvil ID

Appears to be small (12") cast anvil the only markings being a US on one side and a Z on the other. Curious about who mfd'd it.

    HF Utility trailer

I'm planning on moving some dirt from a bank in the front to the back and I would rather not wheel barrow it. I'm thinking of getting the small HF trailer to pull behind my riding mower. It's relatively cheap at $125 and since it is a "trailer" a 20% coupon can't be used on it. Does anyone...

    Old Snap-on sockets?

I tracked down some of my mystery sockets to Packer Auto (RAY) Thx to a member on here. The majority of the remaining sockets appear to possibly be early 1920's - 1930's Snap-on mfg'd but non have the "SW-**" on them or any Snap-On logo, or date code, but all have only the size incremented by...

    Vintage sockest ID

I pulled a old tool box I've had under my workbench out today in a rare cleaning episode looking for something I did not find. I recall I was given a cardboard box of old sockets by a janitor at work back in the late 70's. He lived in a trailer park and said he found them cleaning out an old...

    Tekton 4755 oil/water seperator

Curious if these actually do the job. They seem a little "tiny" to actually collect much of any moisture, but they are small enough to put on the end of a drop prior to an air tool. I noted Amazon had them for $8.00 a pop.

    Snap-on surprise

Bought a set of ratchets off a truck back in late 70's by just walking up. Noticed a while back the F720 was missing one of the plate screws. Couldn't find anything in my junk boxes so I ordered two on-line from Snappy. Cost me a total of $2.53 and $.19 was tax. Was surprised when the big brown...

    Pyrex tig welding cups

Curious about these new (to me) cups/collets for the common 17 type and other welding torches. Been welding for years but once I passed 70 my eye sight isn't what it used to be. I was wondering if this allowed any better vision of the puddle. I already have some magnifers in my helmet.

    HF Airless sprayer #60600

I see there is a coupon for one of these units for $175. I searched here for airless sprayers and got some reviews but mostly on BB stores stuff. I need to paint my 24X30 T-11 covered garage soon which entails a coat of oil base primer and then oil base top coat, think I used Behrs the past 2...

    My new HF 20T press

I had a $150 coupon for this in my wallet for a while, but I don't have a HF near our house. Got stuck on jury duty back in July so stopped on the way back from courthouse but they only had the orange in stock. Had to go get a car smogged so I called an verified they had one of the gray...

    Palmgren 10" rotary table disassembly

I asked this over on the Hobby-Machinist forum a couple days ago but no replies so I'm trying here. I've had this table since the late 80's just sitting on a shelf. I have project which could use it, so I'm cleaning it up and lubing it. I took everything apart, except for the actual round...

    Craftsman outlet store

While on a brief shopping excursion with the wife I wandered across the mall to an old Kmart, now a Sears Outlet. Most of the Craftsman tools were China made however I did find the 9 pc each 12pt sae & metric deep well USA set for $20 and also a bag of USA 1/4-3/8-1/2 adapters for $4.

Wells/Index 55 mill DRO add on

I have an old (Wells) Index 55 SN 4435 manual mill built in 1952. I've had it since 1987 and it's just hobby use no production. I've had use of an import 9X42 CNC mill in my garage/shop for a couple years and have grown fond of the DRO even in manual opr'n. My son-in-law (machinist) actually...

    Howdy from Poway, CA

I jumped on here after hearing about you folks on the HAMB where I have been a member for several years. Usually stay in the background and absorb a lot of valuable info, as I subscribe to the old cliche " better thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubts." I will chime in if I...
