***SOLD*** Champion Air Compressor w/ Kohler Engine

I got this compressor a long time ago with the idea of setting up a tool trailer for a job that never materialized. It's been stored in my garage ever since, and run probably less than 20 hours total. I keep it on a battery tender and start it once a month or so to run fresh fuel through it...

Source for U-Clips, aka Fender Clips, Speed Nuts?

I've been working on my Jeep doing replacement door latches, etc. which means I'm taking a lot of interior trim panels off lately. I've come across a bunch of missing, bent, or stripped u-clips. I used to have a crappy assortment from HF, which somehow got lost in my last move. Looking...

    Flea Market Creeper Seat

I'd been using one of these cheap POS's for years, and it was far from ideal but it worked OK: Well, awhile back one of the casters literally exploded and sent me *** over teakettle while replacing some brake pads. So I set out to find a new one. I have seen the "Tail Bone" seats by the...

    Installed an Eley Hose Reel

Well, after procrastinating nearly 2 years, I finally vowed to stop struggling with the Wal-Mart plastic POS hose reels that the previous owner of this place was so fond of. I got in on Eley's Easter special for free shipping, and ordered a real reel. I was off work yesterday so I had a chance...

    Wilton ATV All-Terrain Vise

The new Enco sale catalog that came today had this in it. Probably not something that I'd buy, but I thought it was interesting that Wilton is paying attention and listening. There have been a lot of people who have put together mounts to hold a bench vise in a 2" hitch receiver, both for...

    Hanging Some Glads

Well, it took me awhile, but I finally got sick of walking around the Gladiator wall cabinets I'd bought, ummm, about 10 months ago... I knew where I wanted to hang them, but I had to have a plan in my mind. Since the woman is in New York this week with her daughter, it gave me time to get it...

OK, Which One of You Vise Junkies Was It?

Going up Dessau Road the other day in Austin, I saw this flatbed Dodge, and he had a vise mounted on his truck - carefully wrapped in a black trash bag and secured with bungee cords... I thought to myself at the time, that's got to be a Garage Journal member!

    Extension Cords at Sam's Club

Not really a smokin' deal, but a very good price. My local Sam's has 50 ft 12 gauge contractor extension cords, made by Coleman Cable in the USA for $26 and change. About $20 less than what a 12ga 50 footer goes for a lot of places. I'd been needing a new one so it was timely.

McGard Locking Wheel Lug Set w/Key

Brand new set of four McGard cone-type wheel lugs with key. I believe they were supplied as OEM with a 2008 Mustang, but were never installed. Brand new in the package, I only opened them to confirm what they were. 1/2"x20 thread size. $5 + $6 USPS priority mail, continental US only. Paypal...

Moving Your Toolboxes - By Yourself.

As I'm moving into the house I bought, the time had come to get my boxes moved. I wasn't too stressed about it though, as I'd moved them all before and I can move 'em all again. Since this is just my personal hobby at this point, there was no justifying a flatbed wrecker or anything like that...

Major Milestone in my New House

I closed on my house on August 1st, and I've been piss-anting stuff over a little at a time. However, I've been delaying moving the garage, because I knew this was my only chance to have a completely empty space to start from scratch with. Well, today that process started. I arrived at the...

Mixed Feelings... Starting Over from Scratch

Well, I finally did it... got off my ***, found a new home in a safe, quiet area, not too far from work, and lots of room to breathe. I close on August 1st. I'm happy about it for the most part, but today I'm just feeling a tremendous sense of everything that will need to be done when I move...

    Unusual Compressor

I've owned a lot of compressors and used a lot of different kinds of compressors, but I've never seen one like this before today. Pictures are from a CL ad. Anyone else ever run into a direct-drive V-twin like this Atlas Copco? I'm wondering if it was purpose-built for some specific application.

Another Project for the Reloading Bench

I have an instrument I use in precision reloading for sorting cases by neck thickness. However, the indicator stand cannot stand on its own due to the angle of the base, so it's got to be screwed down to something. I didn't like having it anchored to the bench all the time, and I toyed with...

A Little Saturday Morning Machining Project

I recently invested in a nice shooting rest, and found that the leveling screws were designed for a wooden bench, and had concentrically ground needle sharp points on them (see first photo.) The benches on the high power range at my rifle club are concrete, and I didn't want to grind the points...

    Some Soft Jaws

I've never had a pair of these, but the Wilton 1760 I've got has such sharply knurled jaws that it will mark even hard steel. An eBay seller I've dealt with before had these Wilton copper jaws for a good price, and I pulled the trigger. The first thing I noticed that I thought was neat is that...

A Little Millin' and Drillin' in the Morning

I'd been toying with this idea for awhile, and finally decided to make it happen today. My reloading bench top is a section of pre-fab Formica kitchen countertop, which for the most part works out well - it's solvent proof, smooth, easy to clean, and makes an attractive surface. However, the...

Pawn Shop "Impacted" my Wallet Today

Cruising through a couple of our regular pawn haunts today... pickings have been pretty slim lately, which is strange because usually when the economy's bad the pawn pickings are good... But anyway - A red boot on an impact caught my eye and upon investigating closer, yep... it's a Snap On...
