I closed on my house on August 1st, and I've been piss-anting stuff over a little at a time. However, I've been delaying moving the garage, because I knew this was my only chance to have a completely empty space to start from scratch with.

Well, today that process started. I arrived at the house at 7 am to find my floor guy already well underway with diamond grinding the floor and fixing some spalled areas.

By 11 am, he had the epoxy down and the flakes piled on. Even half finished, I think it looks amazing! Tomorrow he does the clearcoat and that's when things will really shine, but here are a few pics of the work in progress:

Looking good! Arizona Polymers is another of the many good quality epoxy products out there.

The contractor was back bright and early this morning to finish the clearcoat. He vacuumed up the excess chips and hit it with a buffing pad on a floor buffer to pick up the loose and projecting ones.

By 11:00 am he had the polyurethane clearcoat down and was cleaning up. I came around the corner a half a block away with the AC on and the truck windows up and smelled that poly! Wow, that stuff is strong. The whole house still smells like it tonight. I'm sure the smell will dissipate as the solvents evaporate and the coating cures.

I'm tickled pink with the results. I didn't think to take "before" pics, but just picture a dusty, dirty, oil stained, 28 yr old garage floor. Now the floor looks so good it makes the walls look shabby - off to buy paint.

p.s. The work was done by David Pritchard of Austin Epoxy Floors. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone in the area looking for epoxy or stained concrete work at a reasonable price.
