    Gas line question for plumbers

I got a leak in my main gas line to the street. Sadly, the meter is at the street, making ME responsible for all piping on my property. Normally I would replace the whole main line, because my house was built in 1922 and I have no idea how old the gas line is. The problem is that I don't just...

    The Classifieds

I was reading the rules for posting classified ads, and saw this. Note: The Garage Journal is not a classifieds site. We have a classifieds section just so that users can help each other out with deals and finds. If you are here looking for profit, please don't post. What does this mean? Are...

Need hardware help. What to do?

I've got way too much hardware that I'll never use. Coffee cans full of "trail mix", random weird hardware, lots of stainless baker/kitchen hardware I have no use for etc. I can't bring myself to just dump it, and it's not worth the time and energy to recycle it. Need to thin out the stuff in my...

    What just happened?

So, I've got a few pairs of vintage pre 1957 Vise grips I wanted to sell, and was trolling ebay to see what some of the prices were like. It's all part of the long process of cleaning out my garage, and freeing up a little pocket cash. Anyhow, my package showed up in the mail the other day...

    Vise Grip history

I haven't had much luck with Google. Are there any good websites on dating a pair of vise grips. I've got a few pair that are older, and I'm trying to date them. When did they add the quick release on the grip?

    Best portable band saw

I'm looking to get a used portable band saw. Not interested in a cordless one. I only have experience with Milwaukee, and like them just fine, but was thinking perhaps there were better options. How's the Porter Cable? Dewalt? Any opinions? Has anyone had a chance to compare them?

    Craigslist idiots.

After painlessly selling my drill press today, I got a response from another ad of mine. I listed 2 sheet metal turning machines, at $200 apiece. His first text said "You have the machin" I responded, "Which one?" "Tha sheet metal" He sends a pic of the blue one. "Yes, I still have them." He...
