A couple what are they tools

I have a couple of tools that I don’t know (I have a clue, but nothing definitive) what they are. First is a pair of pliers. Nothing is marked except “made in USA” and 1/16. I assume they are crumpets of some type. Next is what I believe is a puller of some type. To what I don’t know. I don’t...

Sewing machine for heavier weight fabric

I did want to highjack a thread going on right now on a sewing machine recommendation. I’m in the beginning stages of research, acquiring a machine, and eventually sewing up seat covers for our boat and eventually my project F100. So what I don’t know will make this a headache. I will be sewing...

Weldor’s opinion on this Jackson Hood

My Auto Darkening hood has bit the dust. Soooo, I’m in need of one. I’m not up to miller elite or Lincoln Viking budget. How does this Jackson fit my needs? I figured $150 budget and will stretch that for the right one. This is for my home shop as I use a Miller big window elite at work. I don’t...

Any guesses on the value of a NOS Simpson 260-8 VOM?

I have a new in the box Simpson 260-8 analog VOM. It has silicone leads and the manual. I’ve had it for close to 25 years now. I plan to sell it, either FBMP or Fleabay. It’s still available new for $400-$500. There are a bunch on Fleabay used, $50 seems average price. I’ll add a couple of pictures.

Do all of the snap on ratchet handles interchange?

I bought a FHLF80. The handle is not trashed, but worn. I may replace it, but I want to weigh all of my options. Thanks!

Industrial maintenance needing a new 3/8 drive ratchet

I’ve about had it! I’ve been using and mostly enjoying proto ratchets. My 3/8 drive (Proto 5250xl) has been very disappointing. I’ve had to put a rebuild kit in it 4 times in about 5 years. I don’t abuse my tools. Hell, I’ve got pliers, Allen keys, and ratcheting wrenches going on 20 years now...

    Budget friendly engine support bar

I’m going to be replacing the transmission on my GMC Acadia very soon. I need to support the engine from the top while I remove the subframe. I have a lift so the vehicle will be moving and an engine hoist won’t do. I did a quick search, but the vevor option didn’t make me feel all warm and...

    Electrical/diagnostic tool storage ideas

I’ve collected a ton of electrical (meters, leads, jumpers, label maker, zip tie tools, scan tools) tools and I’m needing more than one drawer in my tool box (KR 655). I’ve considered a tool cart (HF 4 or 5 drawer or similar) but I have a KRA 59 on a librarian cart to use for that. It is loaded...

Anyone got a better cable tracer???

As my username might imply, I am an electrician. I’ve got what seems like umpteen meters and specialty tools. Well, I’m trying to trace (within 6” so that my whips will reach the ceiling speakers) speaker cables that the drywall crew didn’t poke out. Actually they screwed me on all of the low...

    Not another scan tool thread!!!

I’ve been looking for a newer scan tool. I was wanting a bi directional tool, but with the advent of electric parking brakes, electric steering, and a plethora of body modules I believe I’m wanting more as well. I want the ability to reset the ecu/pcm/tcm or other transmission control units. If...

    66 F100 Rustomod

This is a project that’s been a long time coming. I’ve owned my F100 for 8 going on 9 years now. Life has taken priority so it has sat for awhile. This will be a long project, but hoping to make regular progress. The plan: on the outside not much will be done. I love the color and this is...

    A what is this tool

I’ve seen this tool before and I want to believe it’s for folding fabric for piping or similar. My wire numbers are in the background, please ignore those.

Looking for BB slides for craftsman portable box

I use a portable 3 drawer (rally box type) craftsman tool box at work (I work in industrial maintenance). I keep it as kinda “kit” with tools specific to a machine/task. Well it got knocked off of my expediter cart and damaged. The box itself took little damage, but one of the slides got...

    Ohm’s shenanigans

I’ve been here for 8 years and have never made a project thread. I’ve really enjoyed reading everyone else’s escapades. I thought it was time to make my own. My projects range from remodeling homes to rebuilding engines. So I’ll start with my two latest projects. we have a lake house and have...

    Older black handled craftsman pliers

Who made those? We got to talking (a buddy of mine and I) about them. I still have some and really like them. I use channellock at work and with my electrical/HVAC tool bags. Would love to grab a couple more pairs if they are still made.

    Looking for green dead blow

Hey all, simple, I have some green trusty cook hammers. I’d like to add some dead blow hammers. Being how most of us are OCD, all my others are bright green and I’d like them to match. I’ve looked on their website, but only find red. Checking on the interwebs leaves me with little. I’ll reach...

Give me some advice on gluing a floating floor

Hi all, we are planning to put an engineered wood down at our lake house. We are looking at gluing it because of the subfloor, it’s like MDF. The area is 30x40 minus a bathroom area. There is a kitchen on this level. During my research gluing is completely ok. My worries are the sheer area in...

Are there an equal to snap on line wrenches?

I’ve read here several times that snap on are the REAL deal on line wrenches and you can’t find better. I have raised panel craftsman and the Napa house brand (can’t remember the name) from maybe ten years ago. They both let me down this week on a brake line and rounded the nut. I had to end up...

    Sprayer for Kroil???

I did a google search with GJ in the search. The newest thread I found was 9 years old. I love Kroil, but my biggest ***** is that the can will seemingly always run out of propellant before I run out of Kroil. I have punched a hole in the cans and put them in a hand sprayer form HD. They always...

    Looking for a sewing machine

My wife has asked for Christmas ideas and I’ve given her the usual items. We had a smaller singer that would do fancy stitches and even a little embroidery work. That machine was lost to a house fire and it wasn’t replaced. Now I’m thinking it would be nice to have another one. What I’d like is...
