    But.....air tanks don't actually blow up......right?

They just gently start to leak and you can just simply weld a patch on right? And if they did it would just be like a balloon pop, right? WRONG Condolences to his family.

WD40 gallon can what spray bottle?

Years ago they provided a nice wide bottom spray bottle with the short stroke pump. You could apply small amounts, and the wide bottom bottle was stable and not easy to tip over. Seems they are gone now? Can't find them anywhere. The newer bottles are a narrow bottom, probably tip over easy and...

Can you vent a gas dryer inside?

If it's upstairs above a garage in a non-heated and not very tight space ( daylight between some of the siding boards)? Gas ranges aren't vented outside......or are they way smaller BTU output? So less CO ?

Hotter water or cooler water in Hydronic system?

I've got a high efficiency Peerless Pinnacle boiler in my shop, (1700sqft) with high output baseboard around the perimeter except where the doors are of course. I've always wondered if it's better to run the max water temps cooler and let the (electric) pumps run longer to pump it around longer...

    Garage door extension spring choices

So had a spring break on the old wooden overhead door on the shop. Unhooked the other non-broken spring, and weighed the door. 165 lbs. My question is, what weight springs should I replace them with? Just 170lb units, or maybe 180 weight units to allow the door to open easier? The old springs...

    O Ring assortment's that don't ****?

So I've figured out like many others that the Harbor Freight O ring assortments absolutely ****. The cross sections are thinner than standard and the rubber is some sort of material that nearly dissolves in oil. So the question is, where does one find quality O ring assortments that are the...

Problems with Condensing NG furnace in "unheated" space?

Without a 'net search marathon, I wanted to ask here if there's thoughts of problems that arise from running a condensing Nat gas furnace in a space that's not continuously heated. Seems like I've read in the past about shortened heat exchanger life, etc. Interested to hear the theory of the...

Electric/heat pump lower cost heat than NG?

On a local forum (Upstate New York) a guy says he's installed a new heat pump and will save on heating costs over Nat Gas. I questioned it, and he said "new technology" in todays heat pumps makes them a lower cost option than Nat Gas for home heating. Thought I'd ask opinions here, can this be...

Air tank corrosion, how thin can it go?

I have a 150 gallon vertical air receiver, 1993 year of manufacture. There is some rust scale inside, I can hear it when I roll the tank. The data plate says 200 PSI max. It also says the shell is .181 thick and the heads (end domes) are .149. I hydro tested it to 300 PSI with no issues. Then...

    Overhead doors .....long lead times.

So I tried to order 2 custom size overhead doors back in May 21, and the box stores said the lead times were up to 12 weeks. I checked back in September and they said it's up to 14-17 weeks. I called around to the overhead door companies 2 weeks ago and nothings changed. They said it's not the...

    MTC Park Train

I posted this on a machine shop forum, and I wanted to also post it on GJ. It's here in the F&T forum because there will be some fabrication and a lot of rebuilding needed. I recently acquired this Miniature Train Co train and 3 cars. It was built and delivered to it's origional owner in...

If I run a 300 CFM air dryer at 5-10 CFM will it still dry the air or not work as well with less flow thru it?

Jet corner notcher score on FBM

I snagged this last night on Facebook Market place. It's basically 'as new', a bit dirty from dust sticking to the rust proofing oil it's coated with. I couldn't pass it up for $150. Now I gotta find, adapt, or build a stand for it... :rocker:

Grob 4V-18 Band Saw.....Who has one?

May be a long shot, but I'm looking for anyone here that might have a Grob 4V-18 Band Saw with the Pneumatic Table Feed. I recently acquired one of these saws, and there's a couple parts missing for the Table Feed. I'd appreciate some info or maybe a pic or 2 of the underside of the table...

    LED Tripod work light....Sam's Club

FYI I spotted this LED tripod dual head work light at Sam's the other night. $39....compared to $89 for the Braun version at Harbor Freight. Picked one up, it's pretty nice. https://www.samsclub.com/p/honeywell-5000-lumen-dual-head-led-portable-work-light-tripod/prod23221995

So......I found this shear in the weeds

And it interests me mildly. The tag says 10 BWG which is a wee bit thinner than 10 gauge USG. I'd be a lot more interested if it was 48" width not 42". I'm probably not the only guy wondering why the hell they made the width 42" and not 48". And yes, I'm going to look it over closer and 'see' if...

    Sound familiar?

So every day that I am productive, it's a constant fight. Underlying constant challenges and games played with the cosmos. Nuts, bolts, screws, and tools constantly slip out of my hands. A nut will magically home in perfectly on the top of my shoe, hit it like a trampoline, and...

Picked up a Listeroid Diesel last weekend

Bucket list item. Been searching for one of these I could afford for 15+ years. Finally found one, and made the 7 hour round trip to bring it home. This was made in India, around about 2010. It's 6hp at 650RPM, and the generator is 5kw. It's never been run, no oil in the sump. I'm stoked to...
