How to degrease an old wood workbench top?

My new (to me) workbench spent the first sixty years of its life in a machine shop, and the butcher block wood top is, uh... well seasoned with grease and oil. :-) Now, I don't mind a bit of "patina" but I'd like to clean some of the crud off this thing. I used engine degreaser on a similar...

    How old are these Bluepoints?

I picked these up in a box of assorted wrenches and tools this summer. Anyone know how old they might be? Just curious... I think they're pretty cool!

How best to polish up a Delta "retirement light"?

Well, I finally got a Delta retirement light and it came with a free drill press attached! :) It's got some crud and grime on it, and I'd like to make it shine again... I don't want to booger it up; is the bell solid aluminum or a plated pot metal of some sort? :headscrat

Crusty old Delta DP-220 drill press

I didn't really need another drill press but for $60 I couldn't just leave it there... right? It oughta clean up nicely. Any guesses as to how old it is?

Yet another Wilton Bullet vise restoration thread...

WOOT! I'm in the Wilton club! I got this grubby single-owner vise from eBay the other day. Underneath the flaking paint and the skim of rust, it looked to be in good condition. As purchased. I wish it had a swivel base, but... it doesn't. Oh, well. :)

    Bett-Marr 14" Band Saw overhaul

I sold a drill press on the local Craigslist the other day, and in typical fashion it ended up costing me money. Yes, the List of Craig is The Devil's List. But anyhoo, I sold the drill press and before I realized what was happening I'd typed "Band Saw" into the CL Search box and voila...

How to replace bronze bearings / bushings?

I'll start another thread with some photos, but the really cool old Bett-Marr band saw I picked up yesterday appears to need new bearings. The lower wheel shaft runs in two bronze sleeve bushings that are pressed into the cast iron frame. I think an old drive belt with lumps and bumps and...

    Redboy Nate's stack o' ****

NATE'S ****, AS SEEN TODAY... (most recent picture) THE EVOLUTION... Two years ago, I finally got (semi)serious about putting together a workbench in the garage. I've commandeered the third stall of our three car garage (and yes, we park cars in the other two!) and carved out a...

Excited about my new old Atlas 63 drill press!

My drill press is my most used tool. Indispensable. For the past eight years or so, I've been working with a Ryobi that I bought at Home Depot. It was selected at the time for it's price tag - it was the cheapest thing on the shelf! To be fair, the little Ryobi wasn't a terrible machine...

So I shopped at Saks Fifth Ave for the very first time, yesterday...

...and I bought a bench grinder. How's that for a first post?
