Craftsman USA -- they make the grade

About two months ago I started working at a late-model garage. Before that, I had worked at a hot rod shop. I have a full set of metric Snap-on wrenches I brought to the garage. I figured SAE would be fairly rare and I wanted to keep my SK long-patterns at home. I just grabbed my full set of...

    Ratcheting/locking pin jack stands

So, I just got a "new" 6-ton pair in from Chicago Pneumatic that looked like they were used for shot-put practice on a Midwest street. Yeah, they're just jack stands, but these were chewed up pretty bad and they're going back. I don't mind paying money for jack stands; I'm also sold on this...

In praise of Wright 3440 -- 3/8 mini flex ratchet

I just got this in today from HJE. Just an amazing little ratchet. Wright really hit it out of the park in making this ratchet as compact as possible. Although it has a 1/4" handle, I still had to do a double take to make sure it was the right 3/8" drive size I ordered (it was). Flex joint...

    Aircat Impact

Quick question: Are the Aircat 1150 impacts still assembled in USA? I'm about to pick up a new 1/2" drive impact next week and someone mentioned they switched to Taiwan for assembly. (My apologies if this has been addressed -- I did a search and didn't see anything.) Just looking for verification.

    Proto 5450 and 5450XL

Anyone on this forum have both of these ratchets? I'm looking for an affordable, USA-made long-handle 1/2" drive ratchet to complement the standard-length, fine-tooth 1/2" Snap-on and flex-head I use at the garage. We work on '76 and earlier domestics so there's generally more room in the engine...

    Craftsman USA ratcheting wrenches

My apologies if this is in another thread, but a quick search turned up nothing definitive: Who made the old USA Craftsman reversible ratcheting wrenches? I don't own any by another manufacturer so I can't compare. I understand there were few plants producing these in the US. Was it Armstrong?

    Pawn Shop socket/wrench hunt

I've lurked for a while and really appreciate all of the knowledge I've gleaned from this site. One tip I picked up on was checking pawn shops' "loose bins." Having seen beat DeWalt orbital sanders going for $5 off retail, I avoided the places for years. This weekend I went out and found some...
