Quick question: Are the Aircat 1150 impacts still assembled in USA? I'm about to pick up a new 1/2" drive impact next week and someone mentioned they switched to Taiwan for assembly. (My apologies if this has been addressed -- I did a search and didn't see anything.) Just looking for verification.

For whatever it is worth, I just bought a 1055-TH (stubby) a few weeks ago when Amazon had them on sale. Outside of the box says "Made in Taiwan."

OP - curious why you chose to get an Aircat 1150? I am contemplating a Nitrocat 1200 with the 1150 as an alternate. Tragically there isn't a lot of local first hand info for me.

I only purchased Snap-On and IR guns in the past. The reason why I purchased a Nitrocat 1200k is for the price value, power and quality. In my personal opinion it's pretty hard to beat.

Already did. However, this board is so responsive.

Shawn: I was looking at the Aircat because of the glowing reviews I've heard, it's assembled in the US, and because it's significantly less than the truck brands. I work in a shop part time, and I don't feel like I need to go "all in" on a truck impact when something will probably suit my needs better.

Aircat impacts are made in Taiwan. The assembly in the US pretty much stopped around the same time they became part of Florida Pneumatic but even then the impacts were almost wholly manufactured offshore so it doesn't matter much in my opinion since Taiwan has long since proven itself capable of making good pneumatic tools.

I'd suggest you look into a Matco MT2769 first though. The controls are much better (IR clone) and its built quite well. If you buy from Ebay you wont be spending anymore than a new 1150 would cost you.

That's a shame. Thanks for your response.

My coworker has a Matco MT2769 and Mac's 1/2" stubby. Both are excellent. Rarely does the Mac struggle; if it does, the Matco finishes the job every time.
