    Another Aircraft Question

Are the open end sections of a combo wrench with the nonslip type grip ribs (such as ones found on some Wrightgrip and SK wrenches) which could mark bolts or nuts allowed in aircraft repair and maintenance?

    Aircraft: SAE or Metric

I've seen a couple of You Tube videos and was surprised to discover the mechanics were using SAE wrenches. This included newer light aircraft. By now, I would have thought everything would be metric. Is this correct? What about larger Boeing or other aircraft? Military aircraft? Metric...

    Different Types of Ratchets

Discovering the world of ratchets has been interesting. As a non-wrencher/mechanic, and at best a dabbler, I started with a new early 1970's Craftsman 3/8 inch when in high school. It wasn't until my work situation changedrecently that more time was spent looking and acquiring additional...

    Best Ratchets?

There are lots of threads discussing quality and comparisons among different ratchets. It is a very crowded field and it gives pause to how there can be so many manufacturers. However, rather than Snap On versus GearWrench, what are the best designed and made ratchets regardless of price...

    New SK Teardrop Ratchets?

    Refurbishing SK Ratchets

I acquired two classic SK ratchets which are beautiful in design and function. Both were a bit rough with missing chrome, some pitting and light rust. Disassembled the internals and found them to be fine. Cleaned and relubed. Both work very well. The cosmetics are less desirable. There is...

    SK Ratchet Disassembly

I have been unable to compress the snap ring on a 1/2 inch SK ratchet in order to repair or replace the mechanism. You Tube videos including that from the factory show the use of needle nose or snap ring pliers where the ends of the snap ring are pinched together and the assembly popped out...

Craftsman quick release dual pawl round head ratchet (43788)

I found a couple of older (1970) Craftsman ratchets as noted above. There is a quick release button on top the head but I can't figure out how to reverse the direction since there is no reverse lever. It is probably obvious but if someone knows could you please advise. Thanks.
