Bit Adapter for 1/4" socket wrenches or drivers

I read a couple of threads about bit ratchets and saw no mention of bit adapters and that surprised me because I think they are a good option. One end attaches to any 1/4" ratchet wrench or socket driver and the other end holds the bit via spring or magnet. I just learned about the adaptors and...

What grease for old ratchet wrench?

What grease for an old ratchet wrench? I have an old Thorsen 77 ratchet wrench that had a lot of gunk in the gears. After scraping off some of the gunk I decided to soak it in kerosene to clean it. Now what do I do? :dunno:  My original lubrication plan was to soak it in molten parrafin...

Why don't some quality brands specify the alloy they use in wrenches?

While shopping for combination wrenches I noticed that several name brands didn't mention what metal they used. Harbor Freight, Tekton and several other budget brands do specify. Icon Torque Wrench Calibration is Remarkably Good

Yesterday I bought a new HF Icon 1/2" torque wrench and it is surprisingly accurate and consistent. According to its callibration report, the worst reading out of 9 measurement was only 0.73% off from perfect. Two of the measurements were perfect to 4 decimal places. Their spec says within...

3/4" Pittsburg Torque Wrench for lug nuts?

I'm considering getting a Harbor Freight 3/4" Pittsburg Torque Wrench for lug nuts and also my 162 ft lb caliper bolts. Why not? Is its 26" length too long? Is its 24 tooth ratchet too crude? I like that it is 26" long which is good for leverage. It is beefy, 50 lbs to 300 lbs so it shouldn't...
