Des Moines Garage for photo shoot

Looking for a nice home garage for a photo shoot. Nice toolbox, air compressor, impressive but not millionaire status. Bonus if you have a cool classic car that we could feature. Will pay location fee for use. Must be in Des Moines area.

Garage-sale Milwaukee grinder with new parts

I'd been in the market for a corded Milwaukee grinder since I got my M18 version. I really like the trigger. I picked up this USA Milwaukee for $4, and although it worked, the trigger safety was gone. So you had to depress the little wire spring to get the trigger to engage (impossible with...

    Is this Snap-On letter new?

Got this when they rejected an extension warranty I mailed in. I called the number and was told "if you're not the original purchaser, you don't have a warranty." I know that's the risk with used tools, but I bought these from my neighbor who was the original buyer (retired). It's the first...

L-R Mfg Co Vise from Dubuque, IA?

I finally pulled the trigger on a vise at a garage sale this weekend. Once I got the rust knocked off of it, I had more questions than answers. Has a May 16, 1899 patent on it, the owner said it was from 1910. The only Dubuque vise manufacturer I could find was the Farwell-Adams car company...

Snap-on friction ball fix (socket extension)

I know it's not a high-dollar piece, but I got this 1956 extension and it's missing the friction ball to lock in the socket. Has anyone ever replaced these? SO shows no replacement parts available.

Snap-On, MAC, Matco Misc for Trade?

I have some random premium brand tools that I'm not using. They are all used, with some condition issue. I'd been asking $8 for the 1/2" stuff, $10 for the Matco stuff, $5 for the Mac driver, and $10 for the sockets. Open to almost any trades, specifically Snap-On & Mac deep sockets, hard...

    Mini-Review: Sunex 8011 Screwdriver/Prybar Rack

I got a full set of Snap-On nut drivers from a pawn shop, no trays. That's OK, I'd been considering a rack anyway. Based on some GJ recommendations, I ordered the Sunex 8011BL from Tooltopia for $34, who shipped it right out and it arrived a few days later. A few scuffs in the powder coat appear...

    Milwaukee M12 Gun Stand

I got this Mac Tools spray gun hook in a misc box of tools. It's the perfect height to support my M12 gun, which has laid flat next to my other drill/drivers with standing battery bases. There's a magnet which keeps it seated on my tool box. Thought I'd share for the M12 users out there!

    NAPA- Great warranty experience

Just wanted to give NAPA a shout. I've had a NS66 1/2" ratchet from my Dad with some bad teeth, really only good as a breaker bar. Took it in, no questions asked, they said "we'll have one for you tomorrow morning." Done deal. As an aside, they DON'T do rebuild kits, only replacements. I'd have...

    Chicks with tools

I realize it's not everyone's taste, but for those of us that follow Bill Caswell's $500 Craigslist rally car, there's more at the photographer's Flickr. Bill Caswell's BMW Rally Car Mechanics by jeremycliff, on Flickr

    Garage stairs material?

I'd like to dress up my garage stairs into the house. I've seen the vinyl cladding for the treads, but they don't cover the uprights. Looking for something that looks good and doesn't absorb the rain/snow. Is there a go-to material for GJ builds?

Mac Tools "Born for Work" sticker - seen it?

Has anyone seen this sticker or know where I could get one? This one was on a vehicle at a car show.

    Craigslist Snap-On Box Score

Picked up this "well loved" beauty last night and had to share. I've been looking for a 26" base cab for a while for my office. I'm struggling now cause this one matches a 26" top box I already have in size and vintage. I wish he had two! The base cab is older than the rest, the guy I bought it...

    Snap-On Tool Box Restoration (KRM-54)

Here's my first toolbox restoration job, my father-in-law's 1970's SO box. I know there's a lot of support for leaving them unrestored, but I couldn't stand to see it getting rusty. I still need to replace the missing top supports with gas shocks. Before: After:
