    Brown & Sharpe Mystery Set?

Picked this boxed set up yesterday at an estate sale, but I don't have a clue what it is. Handle has a socket wrench-like ball on the end of it though. Any ideas?

    Oddball (103.23590) Craftsman Drill Press?

That pulley, if it’s got a 1/2“ shaft bore sounds like a winner!

    Oddball (103.23590) Craftsman Drill Press?

The smallest step was cracked/torn, and had a very jagged edge. It might have been bendable back to position but likely would have torn up the v-belt. The seller gave me a refund promptly. Scanning eBay daily for another. :)

    Oddball (103.23590) Craftsman Drill Press?

Thanks so much for this post! My parts looked very similar. I removed that pulley, cleaned things up a bit, re-united the pulley and its washer, and re-installed to the correct position. I now have only a hair of vertical play now. That feed stop collar wasn’t really an issue after all...

    Oddball (103.23590) Craftsman Drill Press?

Here’s a question on these; the spindle pulley will drop about 1/4” when I initially lower the feed handle/quill. The pulley will resume that height when I do the reverse. Normal?

    Oddball (103.23590) Craftsman Drill Press?

I grabbed a few photos of the inside and the rear with the motor swung up out of the way. In comparison to the earlier 23620 model, there are some differences: The motor mount; the feed return adjusting knob (mine doesnt have one), the headstock locking handle (mine needs a 1/2" wrench to...

    Oddball (103.23590) Craftsman Drill Press?

Last weekend I acquired this Craftsman (King-Seeley – 103.23590) 12 ¼” drill press from a very nice gentleman, that I think was a short run “value priced” variation of the 15” bench top model (24505?). I’ve seen a picture of a very similar one in the 1964 Craftsman Power tool catalog (23595) and...

Starrett No. 185 Drill and Wire Gauge

To this as a part of a $12 estate sale bundle (also included a Craftsman four-drawer portable too chest) and did my best to clean it up in evaporust. Question is, is there anything else I can do to restore its appearance (to make it more legible)? And, are these things still used? I see...

Help me ID this Craftsman too box

Picked this item up - missing adaptors. Do you need adaptors to flare tubing? If so, are they generic or proprietary?

    DeWalt Hood Light....Worth the Price?

I had a HF battery powered underhood light, and also found its run time lacking. If it had an AC power option, I'd still have it, and I didn't see that feature listed on the subject DeWalt .

The week after buying a new machinist's vise...

My Brother in Law sees lots of scrap in his work. I told him to pluck anything marked "Wilton." Within a month or so, he got a nice, newer 5 inch for his garage. A couple months later, he snagged me a vintage bullet, model 9-500, and with "Chicago 14" on the side.

    The VISES of Garage Journal

DRIVESITFAR: Actually, Im retired AF Reserve, but had a model of Independence -- CV 62 (post WW II Carrier), when I was a kid. Captured my imagination!

Drivesitfar - the Independence was a carrier. And a great one, too!

    The VISES of Garage Journal

My new (to me) Wilton 9-500. Five inch jaws that open to nine inches. Measuring tape in picture is opened to 12 inches to reflect scale. Date on key of dynamic jaw is worn, but note that "Chicago 14" is marked on the sides. My guess is this is an early 50s vise?

    Wilton Bullet Vise Information

I have a Wilton 9-500 with 5" jaws that open 9". Unit is 19" long with jaws closed. Weighs about 70 lbs (estimate). Marked "Chicago 14" on sides. Date on dynamic jaw seems worn off. Just starting to brush it to give a coat of rustoleum. We saved this from the scrap heap for about $12...

    Lets see your motorcycle lifts!

Space in my garage is tight - thinking about keeping a harbor freight lift in the center of the space I park my Pathfinder in. It has about 7 inches of ground clearance. Seem practical?
