Homier Distributing Company -HDC- anyone familiar with them?

I'm waiting for them to come back around my area so I can pick up one of their 12 (?) ton presses for 50 bucks. Looks like the same one HF sells except painted a different color. Unless they do the same thing HF does, which is have differing prices/available product online compared to their...

    Quality wire crimper

I personally use a combination of tools. A Matco/Belden/whoever stripper and a Klein crimper. The strippers are a bit flimsy for a good crimp. The Kleins give me a lot more leverage. Been using the combination for about 15 years now. As a side note, I prefer a stripper that is closer to the...

    Fixing concrete cracks

If the concrete shifts, yes it will crack. It's not flexible. A gallon of body filler will fill a pretty good sized crack. As for the cold, I don't know of any reason there would be a problem. Most fillers will shrink so a second application may be required.

    Fixing concrete cracks

I know there are other products, but plastic auto body filler works great, is cheap and available just about anywhere.

    Garage with Basement?

Could somebody please expand on this for me? This is exactly what I am looking to do for a future addtion to the back of my present attached garage. There is a slope behind the garage and I was thinking of doing something along the lines of building something similar in construction to a deck...

    Lights in the floor

Why worry about whether they can be driven over? I would place them near the centerline of the car where the tires aren't.

    Shop Clothes

I just wear my uniform pants from work and old t-shirts. All of my old jeans have the knees blown out from crouching down, the work pants don't have that problem and somebody else washes them for me every week. :bounce:

Yay! A real working garage! So I'm not the only one with some clutter and barely enough room to work.

Hi! - and- HVAC tutorial, Part 1 - Thermal Mass

Is there a way to 'cheat' when it comes to heating? Like the opposite of the cooling thread where what you strive for is low humidity and air flow.

HVAC Tutorial Part II - Air Tempering vs Air Conditioning

A 'window shaker' and a ceiling fan. I'll give that a try if it ever warms up around here. :shivers:

HVAC Tutorial Part II - Air Tempering vs Air Conditioning

So that's why my little window unit running constantly seemed to do ok.

If the deck has aux inputs, no problem.

Need help with 12v to 110v

Depends on how often and long you plan on using them. A deep cycle battery and a charger work very well if you have the space. A cheaper alternative that will work also is a garden tractor battery and a small 'wall wart' charger. Heck, use any old 12v battery you have laying around.

    Rotozip

They used to be made in Cross Plains, Wisconsin. The latest one I looked at I believe was made by Bosch. I would assume they're not made in the states anymore but I could be wrong. I'm cynical that way.

    Rotozip

Love mine. Bought it way back when it was still made locally. I think the most useful attachment is the 'cable' extension. Makes it easy to get into tight spaces and carve things up.

Old Dream Shop Story in HOT ROD Mag

I 'had' the issue you speak of until a couple weeks ago, the 25 year collection of car mags didn't make the move to the new digs.

    How to unload air compressor

You can transport it laying on it's side just as long as there is no oil in it. (most won't have oil in them) Slide it off onto a tire or two, tip it up and shimmy it to where you want it. I used to deliver the damned things by myself to the middle of nowhere Iowa at a former job. Same trick...
