    Air compressor running constantly...bad?

Where is the air going? If you have the cylinder at top dead center..both valves should be closed and no where for the air to go. You may have it on the wrong stroke. A friend recently did this trying to install a new distributor in his chevy truck. He was on the wrong stroke. My brother and I...

Melt aluminum without a cutting torch?

I hope this is your own car and does not belong to someone else. Aluminum melts at 1,221°F (660.3°C). I do not know what alloy you have. Animpact would be my first choice. Then again I have air tools. Sawzall or plasma would be one way to cut it. You might be able to sort of melt blobs of...

Cosmogony, physics, the big bang and tools

My GF has more tools than I do. Compressors, shop vacs, tool boxes full, bench vice, etc... She changes oil, brakes, she put brake lines on her Ram pickup a while back. It is sad how she ended up with all the tools though. Her husband passed (many years ago). She has no issues with me...

    The Coolest Toolbox??

Several years ago "trick my truck" on CMT did a service truck. It was a bus with an ambulance back half. Weird looking and strange paint job, but I guess it worked??? 21 pictures here: http://www.cmt.com/pictures/trick-my-truck-max-gerlemans-spaced-out/1566246/2543215/photo.jhtml

    Cutting fire wood without chainsaw

They are not loud at all...at least mine is not. Its no louder than any other type of saw..it just has a chain not a blade. Mine is craftsman.

    Cutting fire wood without chainsaw

I have an electric chainsaw..forgot about those. DUH! It was given to me. Google "saw buck" to see how they used to cut firewood. Or how they used to hold it up for cutting anyway.

    Cutting fire wood without chainsaw

different thing of course..but my "little brother" uses demolition blades to cut up scrap metal with. I was not big enough or strong enough to hang onto his saw when I tried it up at his house.

    Cutting fire wood without chainsaw

I have an old craftsman bow saw that is pretty big (30" maybe?). It has a padded hand grip on the other end so two people can use it to cut large limbs. You would probably only need a smaller one though.

Agree...a bow saw would work well in that situation.

    Cheaper alternatives to Snap-On

I believe that. My dad has a set of hard black handle snap on screwdrivers he got before I was born. I am 47...and just found the same set by williams screwdrivers online. I have used and abused dad's since I was a kid. I will be ordering the williams set as soon as I can.

    Tools for a mobile mechanic

There is a guy here locally that runs a "mobile lube" out of a full size van. He has one of those camper awnings that rolls out over the vehicle and goes to work. He stays busy. I see him all over town in parking lots doing oil changes. Agree with the rest...start small. You don't need to...

    Off-road tool cart?

Not exactly a "tool cart", but I have one of those old beat up HF folding utility trailers (no longer folds, lights don't work, etc..) I put a ball on he back of my rider and tow whatever tools I need out to where I am working around the house. Also works for lumber and bigger items. Overkill...
