    Double Flaring Tool set

I purchased the Maddox set from harbor freight. Made in taiwan. Supposedly the same set as the OTC. Seems to work pretty decent.

When does product warranty and support matter to you? - Poll and feedback

I was thinking about this the other day. I purchased roughly $6000 worth of s-k tools 10 years ago for college. I’ve had no trouble with their warranty, but I can count with both thumbs how many tools needed warrantied. ($20 worth) even if they didn’t have a warranty, that’s a pretty small...

    Good First Metal Lathe?

Hmm, probably a bit far away from you. (Northeast Nebraska) but I’ve my fist lathe for sale. South bend 9a, chucks, taper and milling attachment, steady and follow rest, and some tooling.

Hmm, I hadn’t heard that about cdi.

    Affordable accurate 3/8 torque wrench?

Define affordable….in my mind, precision instruments and cdi are affordable. ($100-$150)

deep offset box end wrench application?

I just used one on a 5/8 bolt going through a truck frame. Fuel lines and battery cables prohibited the use of a ratchet. Couldn’t get a combo wrench on it. But the offset double box end worked well.

    9k versus 10k Lift

Are you sure your 1 ton only weighs that? I’ve got an f250 with a 7.3 diesel, crew cab short box with flatbed. 36” Montezuma full of tools, and an empty 110 gallon fuel tank, and I’m over 10k.

    9k versus 10k Lift

We have a 10k bendpak at our shop that lifts crew cab diesels often. We are strongly considering upgrading to a 12k. I’d lean towards overbuilt vs “hopefully enough”

Let's fight about lathe toolpost setups

I keep mine at 29.5, and sometimes at 45. I can’t stand it being at 90.

    Snapon 3/4" Ratchets?

You are correct. Not sure why I thought that.

Wright Tools, The Good, The Bad

I’d really like to give their combination flare nut wrenches a try. Nothing is more frustrating than after breaking a brake line loose, and then have to keep using a flare nut wrench to get the line separated. All because I’m too lazy to get an open end wrench.

Cornwell makes one like you described. Nice and beefy and has a ball detent.

    Searching for a mag drill

I did some more looking on the bus frame. This project requires me to slide the front axle back and the rear axle forward. It’s going to be close to 50 5/8” holes that need drilled. I think I’ll be better off with an annular cutter vs a drill bit.

    Searching for a mag drill

Thanks for all the input. I did find a used hougen 904 that looks in pretty decent shape for $650 with a few cutters. I’ll likely go that route. I’ve got a few weeks to decide yet.

    Searching for a mag drill

I’m searching for a mag drill on an upcoming project. I have nearly 40 holes to drill in a bus frame, and I’d rather not with a cordless hand drill. I’ve looked around for a used one, but all I can find are pretty beat up. Does anyone have any experience with the Milwaukee or dewalt units that...
