Superlube is almost the exact consistency and texture as vaseline. I would goop it up with superlube and call it a day. You can get it cheap at harbor freight, amazon or online.

This sounds like an example of over lubing a ratchet. If you are applying so much superlube that the spring in the pawl or other springs in the ratchet are becoming weak, you are using too much. A light, thin coating of superlube all over the inside of the ratchet should never stop the ratchet...

I really like the kobalt socket rails! I have tried kobalt, craftsman, Stanley, Carlyle, husky and a few others for sockets. They all fit great with just the right amount of retention. Kobalt stuff has a good warranty, bring the rail back if it doesn't fit right., they will give you another one...

I am guessing this has to do with the size and shape of the ratchet head. Ratchets that dont have alot of empty space in the head may get stiff and draggy if you pack the grease in tight. A ratchet with more space in the head will give the grease a place to go and allow the gearing to work...

My lowes is the same way. 90% of the tools are made in Taiwan, you have to do some digging to find anything made in China. It is mostly the pliers and very inexpensive stuff like offset screwdrivers and such that are Chinese :dunno:
