Absolutely freaking amazing. I have the shallow metric set I got at a pawn shop that has 10-19, ratchet, breaker bar, universal joint, extention, and the case for $30. Chrome been holding up great after a year of DIY use. 12 point haven't rounded nothing off. IMO the chrome looks 3x better then any other home owner brand. Plus they offer complete sets for anything.

Example metric 1/4 12 point 4-15, no skips in deep or shallow, and includes all the
.5 sizes on a kobalt socket tray. Deep and shallow will run $60, not bad IMO

I may have to give them a try... I was going to buy SO's on discount but our dealer is beyond horrible. Had to call the industrial rep to get a ratchet warrantied :tantrum2:

NAPA is 5 minutes out my way so warranty would be amazing.

Now that I think about it, I was talking to Mohawk Dave the other day and was going on about how I like Carlyle tools so much. I bought the 6 point wrench set on sale. I believe its 6-19? And really really really really really really like them. Lol. But when I took the 17 out of the box, it wasn't machined..lol it was as round as a socket. Paid $90 give or take $8, usually $145 or so. For easy of warranty, the greater level of chrome, I'm very very happy lol.

I *really* want to try some Carlyle tools, but haven't been able to find any used models in the local pawn shops....and buying them new from NAPA just isn't an option. I love NAPA as a store, but they are simply too over priced on just about everything they offer!

Cripe has the set I was talking about on eBay for $30, sae or metric. The socket set that is..retails for $89 or so.

EDIT: of course I can't find them.now but found both sets for $70 with free shipping. Redundant though as you'd get two identical ratchets and breaker bars. There was also a seller selling the wrenches in metric I believe it was, for $40 for 10-19 that are very similar to FD+

Just looking at web pricing they're pretty close with what Cman used to be pricing wise... $74 for a set of deep 1/2 drives :dunno: Seems like that's what I payed for my Craftsman ones.

I ordered a 3/8's deep set today... If I like them enough I'll replace all my current sockets with them (Random mismatched set of craftsman's missing all the important ones). The price is definitely agreeable at $40

I'm with jim1987. I REALLY like my wrench sets...they are the long flank drive plus lookin things.

I handled the sockets and what not at my local NAPA. There will be more Carlyle in my toolbox as the days go on.

BTW, I called NAPA today and a AAA discount don't do squat for Carlyle. :(

Must just be something with your store(s) in your area. My Napa gives me 10% off everything that is not already on sale, including Carlyle tools and special order items.

I have racked up a pretty good collection of Carlyle tools, everything they make is top notch, especially the sockets. About the only negative thing I could say about anything in their line up is that the ratchets need to be lubed before you really start using them and the Power 90 and Power 100 series ratchets are very fined toothed and should not be used for very high torque fasterners. Break the real tight fasterners with a breaker bar first then put the carlyle fine tooth ratchets on them to finish.

If you can find Carlyle tools at a price you are comfortable with, I say go for it!

So the 4 sets I wanted (deep 3/8 & 1/4 sae & mm) came up to about $210. Guy at the store said that was the 'sale' price and wouldn't give me anything more. Problem is, that's the regular price on the website. No indication of discount or sale. So don't expect much better than what the website says, at least until someone calls them out on this fake 'sale' in their POS computers.

I like the quality but I think they should be less costly. I haven't decided if i'm more on the 'too expensive' or the 'i just want to pay less' side of it. Biggest issue for me is NAPA isn't open very late so it is kind of a hassle to hit them after work.

Their hours do limit it. So does the price, I'll buy US made tools at those prices.

Are the wrenches thick like cman? Been wanting to upgrade my evercraft set, waiting to pull the trigger on something that is easier to grip, wrenches hold up nice though

I'll get you a pic tomorrow. They're just as thick as anything else I have. I don't have a micrometer to get all technical though. I have duralast, Napa pro, cman rp, gearwrench (flex and long fixed, along with xxl indexing) and don't see one being thicker or thinner then any of the others. I mean ya the rps are really thick in the middle, but I don't find them as comfortable. I'll post a pic tomorrow comparing them to my GW long patterners and Napa pros though.

I love my Carlyle wrenches, I went with Gearwrench for sockets but if I hadn't I'd have seriously considered Carlyle. You can get a discount by signing up for the Carlyle Club, they send you a box of stuff for signing up.

Every time I see those, it makes me wish I didn't already have LP wrenches in gearwrench.. I don't use wrenches enough to justify another set. Plus my lady got them for me. Full sets 6-22 and 1/4 - 1 1/4.. that'd be $$$ to swap out to Carlyle, and id feel guilty swapping them out..plus wouldn't get much return on them either vs. New Carlyle. But in an unfortunate event I have to start over, those will be my ticket.

Who actually manufacturers these? :dunno:

Isn't the "carlyle by napa" name just a branding deal for tools manufactured (or at least supplied) by another company. Anyone know?

Well I tried to take a pic but the difference was too small to see on my phone. I compared a 19mm Carlyle to a 19mm gearwrench. A 6mm wrench slipped over the beam of the gearwrench, but not the Carlyle. A 7mm did slip over the Carlyle, but had a little play. So, unscientifically, there's about .5 mm difference between the two. But enough as to where the Carlyle is more comfortable over the gearwrench as the edges are smoother on the Carlyle. Its peanuts actually. Hope this helped ya

Williams USA from Toolsdelivered.com. Snap On quality at Carlyle prices.
Having held (but not used) the Carlyle sockets I would definitely spend the money on Williams over them. Carlyle are nice but not as nice as these. Even considering the hassle if one broke I still would.

My main interest in Carlyle is something Williams doesn't offer. Fully broached 6 pt deeps. Otherwise, I'd have gone Williams on those too.

I love my Carlyle tools and once a year my local Napa has a huge tool sale and you can get things super cheap but I have some of there rachets, sockets and screwdrivers and there all great tools no compliants or problems with them! The Carlyle tools app can get you the Carlyle club card through the app so you get discounts on tools
