    D.TRECE - Garage + House

awesome work! One note, but i think you are already doing this (looking at the bath): i'm staying in a hotel that has a great shower floor detail: the floor slopes to the wall and has a space (grout line width) between the floor in the wall that is the drain. This is with 4x12" tile floor. It is...

Houses should come with bigger garages

Door size, esp. if you have a truck, is important. Our builder pointed out he was using a 18' and a 9' for the 3 car...makes a big difference

just up the road from you. (Heath) The clay is brutal to dig, whether as wet as it is now or more normal conditions.

Tension Concrete Foundation and a Lift

we recently built and missed something that appears to be missing from your plan: a "mud" sink in the garage. looks like you have water close, costs pennies now, more later. Also: be sure that you have outside spigots everywhere you can think of, again, pennies now, expensive later. And I am in...

My First Garage: Suburban 3 Car Tandem

I wish I'd seen the GDOs that mount on the exterior wall rather than the standard type prior to my new house build. Cleaner look, more room for lift, etc. I did manage to remember to get a ceiling fan installed, it's hot in TX summer!

    Shower base, what kind?

Probably too late, but when we built our house the showers were built with the rubber membrane/tile, but more importantly, set below the height of the floor so there is no step over, which makes for less cleaning, too.

Ever do something so stupid you wonder if you should be left unsupervised?

When i was in High School I worked at a sign company as a helper, most of the time in the shop but when I got lucky it would be out on an install or service project. (when unlucky it was a dig holes for posts) For big signs we'd set steel poles that were 8"+ in diameter with the crane, then weld...
