    Scooter's Corvette Garage

Just because a garage looks nice and clean doesn't mean that work doesn't get done. Back in May I had to pull the diff to re-seal the side and rear covers so I pulled the whole rear cradle down. Not a really fun job but it's do-able by myself with a couple of floor jacks.

    Scooter's Corvette Garage

Latest updates: TV, flush mounted LED lights, and color changing LED strips around the workbench/cabinets. I bought a new tv for the bedroom (just so that I could snag the old one for the garage). Don't tell the wife. ;-) With a FireStick and Chromecast I have access to just about anything I...

    Scooter's Corvette Garage

In case anyone's wondering, I had the Corvette retuned after putting longtubes on it last year. It picked up a little bit of power. ;) (Unfortunately, the torque curves are faint and didn't get picked up very well in this scan.)

    Scooter's Corvette Garage

I'm back to post a few updates. I've been working on the racecar a bit lately in preparation for our first event. I posted a few pics to Instagram and Racedeck picked them up and posted to their own account. Thanks for the props Jorgen and crew. I also got tired of bikes leaning...

    3.5mm jack to wireless adapter

I hooked an Amazon Echo Dot (Alexa) up to my receiver. She can play Pandora, Sirius, Amazon Music, or a ton of other stuff. Then I don't have to worry about leaving the garage with my phone in my pocket and losing the connection or running down the battery in my phone.

    Scooter's Corvette Garage

I spent Father's Day working on the Racedeck floor and am super excited that it's done. I still have a few little details to finish up in the garage but the floor was the last big thing that needed to be done. Here are a few shots of the completed job.

Cabinets are in! My dad was up for a few days so we spent a few hours getting everything level then bolted them together and to the wall. They came out great. The drawer bases have castors but I wanted them "fixed" so I had to level them with some washers and then bolted them to the other...

    Scooter's Corvette Garage

Costco had the NewAge Performance 2.0 10-piece set on sale in March so I pulled the trigger on it. They said it should take 1-3 weeks to deliver so I figured I'd have time to paint the walls before they arrived. Two days after I ordered they called me to schedule the delivery. So they've been...

    Need options for ceiling fixtures

Sylvania 32W T8 bulbs (spec sheet) and Metalux fixtures (spec sheet). TBH, I thought these had better CRI so that's why I went with these instead of LEDs. I guess I should have looked at the box.

    Need options for ceiling fixtures

The existing lights and the ones in question are on separate switches. The secondary ones would only be needed when working on the cars (of when I need a tan). That's an idea I hadn't thought of. Thanks. The attic is open and accessible so that's an option. Garage is 22'x23'x9'. That...

    Need options for ceiling fixtures

When I ran wiring for lights, I went for "overkill". Now that I'm putting up fixtures I'm rethinking things. As drawn, I have 13 4' T8 fixtures in my 2-car garage. Is that too much light? (Is there such a thing?) The horizontal fixtures are already up. They're on the main switch and are...

Show us your vintage shop clock!

My mother-in-law gave it to me for Christmas a few years ago. It came from a company called LedonRacing. If you Google them it looks like they sell things on eBay.

Show us your vintage shop clock!

This will be going up in my garage after I finish painting the walls. It's 4th gear from Jenson Button's 2006 Formula 1 car mounted on an 8" diameter piece of carbon fiber.

28x28 Garage and apartment in Vermont

Looks great. My grandfather was from West Fairlee so we spent a lot of time in the area when I was young.

    Scooter's Corvette Garage

Wow, it's been a while since I've updated this thread. Between work, kids, and building a track car I neglected the garage for a while but I'm back at it now. Here's one of the things that's been keeping me busy... 2005 Corvette - gutted and caged for the racetrack. It has a cammed LS2 and...

Where/ How do you store your winter/ summer tires?

It works. I've had a set of 18x10.5 Corvette wheels with 305 wide tires on it and it's solid.

Where/ How do you store your winter/ summer tires?

Race slicks go in the basement during the winter so that they're not exposed to the almost-freezing temps in the garage. Once they come upstairs for the first race weekend, they'll stay on a rack on the wall in the garage. I bought this one on Amazon: http://amzn.com/B0045EQ02O

    Scooter's Corvette Garage

I finally have some progress worth sharing. Life gets in the way of projects a lot of the time but my father came to visit for a few days so we knocked out the sheetrock. We put in a few hours a day for the last few days. It's 95% sheetrocked and probably 85% taped/first coat of mud. It...
