So, I have several outbuildings with multiple exterior fixtures, I also have multiple runs of landscape lights on different LV transformers plugged into different receptacles. I know there are "smart" systems that have switches and receptacles that can talk to each other over long distances, do...

Can I use Oscillating Multi-Tool to cut tree roots?

I use a mattock (sharpened with a grinder), works great. I feel like there is a lot more control and power when using a mattock instead of an axe.

    Arc fault breakers

I'm having issues with electronic ballasts (for low voltage can lights) on a AFCI, not all the time, just every now and then. After googling about the issue, I have found my situation is not uncommon.

Boxes for outside lights and cameras? In walls or soffit?

I used the round aluminum weather proof boxes, with a flat weather proof, flat, blank cover. I mounted the cameras to the cover and screwed the cover to the boxes. Nice neat look with no exposed wires.

Transition from in wall electrical wiring to EMT

Or if the drywall is already up, you can use something like this. https://www.garvinindustries.com/electrical-junction-boxes/4-square-junction-boxes/2-1-8-in-deep-extension-rings/53171-sub?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4t2_s-e65gIVTP_jBx2pmwuEEAQYASABEgLK0fD_BwE

    Portable Heater for Cabin Garage

I'm assuming you don't have natural gas, next option would be propane. If you have access to firewood you could do a wood fired furnace or boiler. Kerosene is also an option, but they tend to put a lot of moisture in the air.

Deep Well, installing shut off valve before pressure switch.

I was on the interweb trying to learn a little about deep well cycle stop valves, as I was looking at photos of various installation jobs I noticed a lot of setups have their main shut off valves before (upstream) the pressure switch, isn't this a bad thing to have? I would think, if someone...

    2 hots and 1 neutral?

He is from North East Illinois, most likely his circuit is in conduit serving as his ground, that's probably why he didn't mention a ground wire.

    Menards Masterforce pex crimp kit.

So, I've been thinking about getting a pex tool for some upcoming projects, I won't be using it as a full time professional, but more of a maintenance/diy a few uses a year basis. I don't want to spend to much so i figure crimp ring is the way to go. Does anybody have or use the Menards...

    Interesting insulation install

I did mine like that, 1.5 inch between the horizontal girts, then another .5 completely covering the girts and fist layer of foam. I then taped the seams and put 5/8" drywall over that. Much better than fiberglass in a 2x4 wall, IMO.

Need help with heating options on the cheap

Code here says the house forced air hvac has to be separated from the garage, both for fire and fumes. Electric is probably the cheapest up front but one of the costliest in the long run. If you run a gas line in the garage you could get some kind of small wall hung space heater, but I would...

    main sewer line ???

I would think local codes would decide what would be acceptable, I never heard of a P-trap on the main sewer line. The cast Iron is really heavy stuff, make sure it is well supported when cutting anything in the house. I heard a story of a guy who cut a section out in his basement pipe causing...
