    The VISES of Garage Journal

I gave my girlfriend a picture, name and rough measurements of one of these. Told her if she wanted me to give her a ring, she had to present me with one of these restored by her. Something tells me she won't be my fiance if prices keep going like they do! :bounce:

Ya, really... That's like a $300-400 vise.. Thing is beat. I hope that guy enjoys his very expensive boat anchor. Maybe he can use the baby monitor he bought the other day to watch over the vise as it collects rust in a pond?

Re: Ridgid F-??? Forged Steel Vise We have one in the machine shop, I don't use it though. Seems pretty solid, can't say I'm much trusting of the swivel base, considering how often I have items in it that are 100Lbs+ and off kilter. Record No.6 handles everything without a sweat.

-36 CELCIUS last night here. Nice and balmy. Here's my latest, Record 84-34. Did the best I could with the raised lettering, but some was down too low to get it painted with my lack of artistry. Also an old Sawa 12" rotary table, picked it up for $300 on company dime (I pleaded the case we...

Locally, prices are absurd for turds, and the rest are run of the mill record no.2/3 in junk condition. Guess the well has dried up.

95 is a bit high, but it looks like it's in good shape. They're really easy to quickly spiff up and bring back to service.

I work in Aurora, but those aren't worth much of anything. All beat down Record clones of Parkinsons 37s.

    Show your new tool arrivals

Picked this up from an old timer at a local gas company. Cleaning out his service truck and said the company bought him a couple grand of pneumatic tools yesteryear and this one was the last one he had to give away. Said the only time it had compressed air in it was right after he put the...

Reeds are cast into the frame. Non-replaceable. They are VERY hard jaws, so someone really took a long time filing them flat!
