    In floor heating help

I thought I'd update where I'm at for anyone interested. Or for those that can help. I replumbed my boiler so that the circ pump is now pumping away from the unit and put in a valve to allow bypass fluid back to the boiler to keep boiler return hotter. I really now am thinking my boiler is too...

    Garage clocks, let's see them.

I did a search but didn't come up with anything. I'm trying to come up with an idea to build a unique extra large clock. Like 36" or bigger in diameter. Let's see your clocks.

    40x80 options - Foundation/SIP vs pole/etc.

Running electrical was my biggest worry prior to doing it. I wanted to keep all my wiring within the walls so I had to fish it all. It went really easily actually. I used a piece of 3/8 air brake line for a fish tape (I could kind of steer it a bit by twisting). The worst spot I had was where I...

    40x80 options - Foundation/SIP vs pole/etc.

I put up a 60x64 16' sip shop. With a 14x60 stick frame cold storage. My walls are 8" thick. Roof is standard trusses with r50 blow in. I love it and loved the construction of it. I did all the ground work, did all the forms, played out 2" styro and rebar and pex. I would have done the concrete...

Regarding the burner side, I haven't touched anything with it regarding any settings. Oil fired techs are rare around here. Almost every place around here has natural gas. The few that don't usually run propane or an electric boiler. Our house is geothermal. Gas would cost me close to 30000 just...

    In floor heating help

Its around -15f outside right now and the boiler has been running steady now for over a day (non stop), and the boiler temp is only up to about 90f. The supply side of floor is about 85f and return side around 65f. The thermostat is using air temp which is around 58f. It seems like the boiler is...

High temp? I'm guess so...it heats itself up to 130f then shuts down until 110ish. And yeah I didn't put in a mixing valve or divert valve. It's obvious that heating isn't my thing. What should I do?

    In floor heating help

I'm hoping someone can help me with my in floor heat. The shop is 60'x64' with 16' walls. The walls are 8" SIP panels rated at r32, the ceiling is blown in r50. There are 2 14x14 sectional doors rated at r25. There is r9 or r10 2" styro under the slab. (I haven't insulated the foundation wall...

    Some pictures for enquiring minds.

I will be putting a couple of hoists in and need around 13' clearance for that, plus I will have an engine lifting post above that (red post in picture). Also if I ever the want or need to work on a semi truck I should be ok on most of them around here (except some with really tall stacks)

    Some pictures for enquiring minds.

My sips had channels within them so I fished all the wiring....nothing exposed except from panel into attic. It was actually really easy to fish the wiring. I used a piece of plastic air brake line for fishing. Worked great.

    Some pictures for enquiring minds.

Some of you might remember that I'm building a shop at home. I think (hope) I an finally show some pictures of that current state it's in. It's a 60'x64' sips 16' sidewalls. 8 1/2" thick. With a 14' x60' storage on back stick framed. In floor heat. 2 r25 sectional doors. I just put my lights...

    ceiling tin question

I'm getting closer to be able to tin and insulate my ceiling in my new shop. My question is regarding my tin installation. My trusses are 4' spaced. One person told me I need to strap with 1x4 and then tin, but another guy told me that I'd be fine with 4' spacing as is. My concern is that once...

    ceiling fan questions

I'm in the process of rough wiring my new shop, and am wondering if anyone knows how many ceiling fans I can put on one circuit? I'm in saskatchewan Canada if it makes any difference to code. I'm pretty sure on any single circuit we are allowed up to 10 or 12 outlets, but I have never put that...

    help with lighting recomendations

The plan is this is all workshop area, and is getting a storage area added to it. It will be a car repair shop. I do like the idea of simple sockets with bulbs as the cost layout is not much for that, and can easily changed to tube designs down the road if desired. I worked in a pretty big shop...

    help with lighting recomendations

As some of you may know I'm in the process of building my shop, and I'm now not far away from installing lights. The shop is 60' wide by 64' deep with a 16' ceiling. I have already roughed in ectric on the walls at 8' high with 8' spacing between electrical boxes. I have also strung the wire...

    Btu requirements?

Closest city is Estevan (sunshine capital of Canada, but believe me when I say that sunshine does not necessarily mean warmth). But as far as bigger cities go, Regina, Saskatchewan or Minot, North Dakota would be closest references. Saskatoon (300 miles north) weather is pretty much the same as...

    Btu requirements?

First off, thanks for all the suggestions and help. I did give my info to a heating guy and he came back today with a recommendation of a propane boiler rated at 82,000 btu, which he said is actually slightly oversized but without knowing how much the doors will be opened it should be good to be...

    Btu requirements?

Can someone please calculate my heating requirements for my shop? All the online calculators might as well be written in Greek, because they make no sense to my little peanut brain. Shop is 60' x 64' x 16' ceiling. Has 2" styro under slab with in floor piping spaced every foot. Walls are...
