    Gimmick Wrenches, Tools.

@RTM - Not sure if you pursued that patent above, but: I went through everything I could find online. No mention of Harry Millward at gracesguide.co.uk Trying to search for "Hmm" is pointless. My understanding was that GB patents are issued to the company, not the individual, correct? Did that...

    Vintage S-K Tools

I needed an 11/16" 8-point a few weeks back to remove a square nut that was in a place I couldn't get at with an open-end. Rather than go searching, I just grabbed a big 12-point deep-well and found one that fit, gave it a good whack with a hammer, and put a breaker on it. Worked dandy.

He wouldn't. Expecting "average Joe" to know the difference is delusional. Feel free to tell me I'm stupid, but I had no clue.

    Who makes good flush cutters?

ahh okay.... I think the first time I had to cut down a screw I was maybe 12 or 13. I had a tiny 2-inch clamp-on vise on my desk in my bedroom, and I had an X-acto razor saw, and I had a small file. (And not much more at that time in the way of "tool".) I double-nutted the screw (as described...

Sorry... my mistake... I've been pretty sick and haven't been thinking straight for the last week. I should have looked first. I remembered seeing a "Trimont" pipe vise on Craigslist some time ago.

By the time I got to Don's (d42jeep) "Secret Santa" package a couple years ago, I'd already gotten all the other stuff all packed up and ready to go, and I had depleted my "packing material" down to almost nothing. I went out and tipped over my recycle bin and picked all the plastic bags out of...

    Who makes good flush cutters?

I'm confused. I thought this guy was asking about flush cutters for zip ties. What's that have to do with cutting screws? If you need to cut screws, buy a screw cutter: Esco screw cutter Ikogu screw cutter Why on earth would you be trying to cut screws with a device designed to cut zip ties? SMH

I'm 62 and my shop needs serious work.

Just my lousy two cents - I would definitely be reconsidering the choice to locate your shop an hour away from where you sleep.

Understandable. One of the few times I left "Negative Feedback" for an ebay seller was because of packaging. Rather than put the steel box into a cardboard box, the seller simply completely wrapped the thing with PVC packing tape. It was not only a hassle to remove it - during mid-summer when...

    Who makes good flush cutters?

^ We used an oscillating "mult-tool" with a metal blade for that task. Went through three or four packages of blades on that job.

    Garage Journal referenced on Youtube

Had something of an interesting conversation yesterday with Google's "AI" bot. I told the AI bot "If you have read everything on the internet, and you've read every book ever printed, then you should already have known the answers to these questions." "I don't read," it replied. Said it "scanned...

Broke my brand new tubing cutter

^ that's it in a nutshell. The old English expression was "Penny wise and Pound foolish". Plastic has its place. There are places where plastic has no place. This is 100% about cost-cutting. The trade-off is a tool of lesser quality. For the same reasons Ford Motor Company installing a...

^ If there is any possibility of that I just toss a few rocks on top of them to keep them on the ground. Not rocket science. The wind here blows continuously - particularly at twilight when the wind comes up the Narrows.
