Preference is often driven by several factors that may not be the same as your own. I would do an honest self assessment and determine what you want the building for and what the building requirements are for your area. What do people with a similar hobby have and what do you actually need...

My building has two 12' x 10' doors on a 40' wall and it's perfect for my needs. The doors are wide enough I can back a loaded car trailer through either door with ease. My main purpose is working on project cars and dragging home new ones.

Looks like a very cool place to hang out and work on project cars.

Haha, they aren't all bad. Mine wanted me to build a bigger shop - so I did. :bounce: I know this is rare but mine actually likes what I do. As a trade I did get us a newer house that happens to come with some nice closet space in the process. :beer: Cool plans Jake28.

Thanks for the information on the lights, I'll check them out. I'm absolutely placing lights over my garage doors. That is something I didn't have in the last place and I always felt I was short on available light with the doors closed.

I saw your post about Prime Lights but didn't see a part or model number. Which interior lights did you go with, how many did you use and do you still like them? I'm trying to decide what I want to use for lighting. I want LED's and whatever I use still needs to be bright with a 12' ceiling...

Good stuff. In my humble opinion insulation is necessary in this area of the country if you're going to be out there any length of time in the winter or summer. I'm just getting started with the building process here.

That look so good standing alone but next to the house is even better! I had a similar scheme in mind for mine and it's nice to know it works in reality, not just my head.

Look for Bosnian Bill and Lock Picking Lawyer on YouTube. They have several videos about picking locks, the security flaws and the logic of how they work. Bosnian Bill even has a site locklab.com which is a wealth of information for home security and other stuff.
