    Expensive Mistake

thanks for the great tips. Yeah, gas pricing is ridiculous in canada. An 80cf bottle will run around $120 to refill/exchange. And there are very few places that offer this service. TSC used to provide exchange, but they pulled out of Canada a few years ago. Peavey mart took over most of the...

    Expensive Mistake

I forgot to shut off the gas on the mig welder last time I used it. It was a while ago, sometime in the spring. Annnnd, the hose connecting to the back of the welder was leaking a smidge. So, over a few months of time, I lost about a half bottle of argon mix. After tightening up and leak...

LED Rope Lighting, String, Cove, Under Cabinet ????

I installed the strip tape under my cabinets around 2012 during a full reno. I dont recall the brand name but they were 5050 diodes (ordered from Amazon), and 60 per meter, 3000k like Larry's. They are bright enough under most conditions but sometimes would like that extra light. They now...

    Shed floor rotted

heres what I did to my old shed. Lifted, and put a new floor in. Extra height for air movement, and mesh to keep varmints out. https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/my-seasonal-shed-restoration.369341/

    Clear (acrylic) Sump Basin Cover?

Id go with a much simpler solution and install a sump pit camera with NVR, and some ai to text you if there is a detected object or movement :) but honestly, I did consider an acrylic cover (but never did it). I dont have a cover at all, and with it open I was getting mosquitos in the house...

Need to remove a few Cinder blocks from foundation wall

Thanks @NUTTSGT. The hole is two courses down from the top of the wall. The hole ended up being about 22" wide and 16" high. I do have some angle that I'll install when patching up the opening to finish size.

Patching void from removed post tie

I had posted a few years ago when removing some post ties from a patio slab. The slab was going to have a gazebo, but I opted to go with a pergola instead. So a few of the post ties I installed were no longer needed. I removed the ties, and patched with a skim coat patch compound. Three...

Venting & insulating garage roof in Colorado

4" would work, maybe even 3", would be easier to drill them, just drop more of those in. I think the general rule is 1/150 venting for sq footage of the garage, but maybe research that more for your area . So for every 150 sq ft, need 1 sq ft venting, between the roof and soffit vents.

Need to remove a few Cinder blocks from foundation wall

Well that was easy.... much easier than I had built up the job in my head! The hammer did about 95% of the job in about 30 minutes. A chisel to clean up some of the edges and remove mortar joints left in the opening. Didnt hit my thumb once (was thinking about your post @tncatadjuster !)...

Need to remove a few Cinder blocks from foundation wall

I've got a home project coming up where I need to remove a few blocks from my basement wall. It is an inside wall, and not load bearing. Standard 10" blocks, hollow and not reinforced. What would be the easiest way to bust out a few blocks in the middle of the wall (not near the top)...

    Plastic hinge lube

yes I think you have to stay away from any spray lubes as the propellent is normally not good for plastics. Keyboard lube is good for this kind of thing.

    Multi-speed Drill Press

I converted my DP600 to use a 3 phase motor and VFD, and change the speed for every situation. Before that, I would be lazy and keep it at a low speed for pretty much everything.

    Meross Smart Garage Opener

I have had the Meross wifi version installed for a year or so now. My opener is an older Genie. The setup was pretty simple, and have it integrated into my Home Assistant environment. Its been pretty solid. I recall it did not like being segregated from the internet, and would misbehave...

    well water pressure problem

hi yes I think the bladder in the tank may be shot, if this is a sudden issue. You can use a tire gauge to measure the air pressure. If any water comes out that side you know its been compromised.

Check my schematic for limit switches

Circuit should be pretty simple. The limit switches (normally closed) are in series with the window up / down switch. The upper switch is in series with the up limit, lower switch in series with the down limit.
