    Air Dryer and Franzinator build

Guys, I am putting together a 4 piece system for drying compressor air. It will be plumbed inline AFTER the main air tank. It will be used for auto painting and spraying, and not for general air tool use. It will have a Motor Guard Air Filter [ that I have not installed yet ]. Air will...

Going to build an aftercooler.....my condenser pics

Ok, thank you for that explanation. That helps clear it up in my mind. I didn't realize that the condenser also removes the heat from the evaporator.......thus making the condenser the obvious choice [ once you know how it works! ]. Yes, these parts are all matched from factory.

Going to build an aftercooler.....my condenser pics

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm still not getting which one is the condenser, and which one is the evaporator, and which one I should use? The one with the two fans mounted to it is the smaller of the two......not as thick, not as long, and has the 3/8ths OD copper tube running thorough it...

Going to build an aftercooler.....my condenser pics

Gents, I am going to build an aftercooler for my 5HP Devilbiss 16 CFM air compressor. It has an 80 gallon tank. Why? Because the even with water separators, and a small 110v air dryer in place, I still have moisture in the lines when doing auto body spray painting longer than just 10...

    Reality Hot Rod Show Issues

I can't stand to watch 20 minutes of commercials, 39.5 minutes of guys standing around with their thumbs up their arses with ?adult? hissy-fits thrown in, and all for 30 seconds of hand-on tools work being done. No way, no how. They ain't for me. Chicks like those sorts of shows however.

    Air Prep For Painting

Since having spray painted the inside of my Samurai, I see that I need to get the air prep on my set up dialed in. The air started out nice and dry, but by the end of the spraying session, [ HVLP 1.5 liters of paint ] I had some water blisters in the paint. I can live with a few blisters on the...

How can I keep people on my driveway?

Does your property / driveway extend right to the road?? If not, then anyone can legally driver there. If not, then perhaps consider moving your lawn back a few feet to your property line. There is a guy in my neck of the woods that thought that he owned the road shoulder. To claim that...

    Floor replacment

What dnroe said. **** weld if at all possible. IMO, it's worth the time / effort to do it right.

Epoxy for holding nuts instead of welding?

I need to attach some small 6mm nuts to the underside of a Samurai dash / tub. I can barely see up inside there let alone weld nuts in place there, up side down. Will epoxy work for securing these nuts in place? Was thinking of drilling holes and then using the bolts to keep nuts in place...

AirTek compressor chiller / air dryer question

I just bought an Airtek compressor chiller / air dryer, model M20. I can't find any owners manual / info on it at all. I don't know much about it, except that you plug it in and it chills and dries the compressor air. This is a small unit, and I'll assume that "M20" indicates 20 CFM.......but...

    Spray Booth Explosion or Fire

Well, I sprayed some epoxy primer and some Imron in the booth yesterday with no problems. It seemed to work well. I am using polyester quilting material for the exhaust filter........and it does catch a lot of the over spray. After spraying 600cc of Imron, the filter was totally painted on one...

    Spray Booth Explosion or Fire

Good tips Jay thanks. I did frame off resto and painted the tub underbody last summer. Running gear is all freshly stripped and painted. It IS dusty from working on it outdoors, but it will get a good pressure washing before bringing it into the booth for paint. I plan on painting the doors...

    Spray Booth Explosion or Fire

I know. Painting time is right now, with our outside temps 25-30 deg. The October rains [ BC Canada on the coast ] are right around the corner.......

    Spray Booth Explosion or Fire

A 10ft wide shelter isn't very wide, and neither is a suzuki samurai. It's what I've got to uses and so will go with it.

    Spray Booth Explosion or Fire

Yes, a positive pressure hood is the industry standard for 2 part urethanes......$2000 or more, that I can ill afford. 3M has a tech bulletin on spraying urethanes. In short, they do not recommend cartridge respirators because, once you smell the fruity aromatic aroma associated with the...

    Spray Booth Explosion or Fire

I'm building a DD / Expedition 4x4, not a show car. Nothing on it is perfect.....neither will the paint job be. Using Imron paint ought to have tipped you off. I looked to rent a booth locally, no one stepped up, leaving just the autobody repair shops that need to make their thousands...

    Spray Booth Explosion or Fire

All good points fellas, thanks for the input. Having just tried the booth out for air flow yesterday, it does **** the shelter walls in. Not really taught, but the negative pressure is there. I will be able to unzip the front "door" zippers, allowing for air to be recirculated through the...

    Spray Booth Explosion or Fire

Yes, another DIY spray booth thread.........:lol_hitti I have made a home-made spray booth from a 10' x 20' portable car shelter. I will be painting one vehicle in it. One end is sealed with plastic vapor barrier, and it has two 20" box fans blowing filtered air into the booth. The other...
