At least in this area, we see cold, high winds, and heavy snow pretty frequently from Oct - May, so it's not really much of a change. Business goes on as usual. It hardens you after a while...I got out gloves and a jacket for the first time this year.

I believe the consensus is that in 1973, it would not have been an import vise. The 1750's were made in China for some time before production was brought back. Are the pipe jaws cast into the body or separate, held by pins? I don't believe that is a Snap-On unit.

No, not inferior, just a different, older design. They were limited in the HP rating and size. I believe pre-blocks only went up to 1/3 HP in a 6" disc....the blocks were made up to 1 HP and 8" disc. The pre-blocks are still excellent grinders with a lot of power. I really like my 1/4 HP...

They aren't bad....but not the same internally. Torqueman details the differences pretty well in his thread.

Nope, those are blocks. Pre-blocks are cast iron bodies....blocks have cast aluminum bodies (both round top and flat top styles).

That guy from Saugerties buys a lot of stuff from him and then resells for top dollar. He comes out this way for anvils & blacksmith stuff too.

I actually saw that link since I posted....looks very, very similar to the one I recovered. To think it would have gone for scrap!
