If you look through the thread, you will see pics of my weaver jack. I’m happy to report, it’s been a few years now and the Jack still gets used regularly. We’ve since finished remodeling the house we inherited and we’ve moved in. I’ve used the jack for working on trucks, mowers and tractors!

Lightning doesn’t exit thru the ground.... I don’t believe you should be disconnecting the grounds, although I’ll admit I’m not a geologist. Replacing the receptacles seems more prudent, and checking the panel for proper bonding would help. Sometimes in remodel situations, gfci receptacles...

Here in the mountains, sometimes well only have 10 inches of soil before rock. Our inspectors will allow digging to the rock, laying the ground rod horizontal and then encasing it in concrete to the surface (grade).... they don’t like it, but it is the only way sometimes.
